The beancounters from Propellerheads (aka Reason Studios) are currently trying to polish the company for a sale. The shareholders are screaming for profit.

Maybe that's a good invest for Behringer?

No, no. Behringer wants to start from scratch - without all the ballast.

They did not with Midas. Probably their best move to date...
I would love to see them develop a universal track format to be able to share sessions between DAWs... A track could hold multiple audio-midi-video-automation streams and would as well carry all information about plug-ins...

Throw in some 3D Virtual Reality control while you're at it...

It's not the quality of audio, it's the quality of production that matters.

Buy or partner with Melda Production and Cockos, stick the DAW, instruments and effects together in a completely free package and invest in someone who can pull off interface design.
You'd end up with pretty much all anyone wants from a DAW and if they could retool Melda to run on Linux as well would have a suite that runs across all platforms.
Make the interface more modular so people can slot in different sequencers, editors or go from clip launcher to arranger style interfaces easily based on what they like to use.
Oh and for the moon on a stick requirement have it fully open source.

Are you safe?

Any news about the Behringer DAW? :o

It has now been over 3 years since the announcement. I would like to know
what the developers are doing - and how the project will continue.

Well, they're right on schedule. Always take a programmer's estimate and double it. They said 18 months and it's been over 36. Of course, that's a competent programmer. Triple it if they're new to the game.
