So after the whiplash of Super 8 being a Reaktor Ensemble/Instrument/Whatever, being pulled out and made into a stand-alone plugin, immediately getting discontinued and thrown back into Reaktor, I don't understand why it is still available to install in Native Access, only to crash my DAW since I guess it's abandonware at this point.

That's Native Access, not Service Center.
And, they left it, because people who owned it shouldn't be left with only the Reaktor version.
I haven't tried it recently, but, the standalone version of Super 8 always worked fine here. Judging by your screenshot, I assume that you're on Mac OS. The plugin might not be M1 native, if that's what your machine is running.
Just run the Reaktor version. The standalone version is discontinued anyway.

I actually think quite positive of NI. They are not going to go bankrupt anytime soon.
My favorite Plugins from them are
Polyplex, MassiveX and Reaktor.
A lot of their products have some drawbacks or limitations however. For example you can't use the FX section in polyplex when you use it with multiple outputs. In battery you have to do an insane amount of routing which kinda kills the workflow. Or a lot of reaktor synths not having an init preset. I think their main problem is that they have slightly to many products and to few devs to maintain them. That is why it is actually good that they only release sample based kontakt libraries now. Because they don't come with maintenance work.
Personally I don't find the sample/kontakt stuff not really interesting. But it seems like the hiphop/beatmaker guys as well as the film scoring crowd really does. And that is where the big money seems to be made.
For everything synth related it seems like the marketing team doesn't really know enough about synths to market them properly. If you check the website you will find a lot of kontakt sample libraries under the synth category. Taking away the focus from all their actually synth products like massiveX, reaktor, super8,razor,kontour or FM8.
Reaktor is also under marketized. The user library should be embedded in reaktor so that users don't have to search for it on the website. Most people that are visiting the site will probably not understand what reaktor is and why it is so great.
MassiveX got a lot of hate for the wrong reasons. But a big part of that was to blame on the marketing here as well. It seems like people expected a serum with more features but then got angry when they got a modular synth. Even though it's a really good one.
For their other synths a lot of them are very different from subtractive synths and therefore come with a learning curve. Which a lot of people are not really to invest if they get angry at massiveX because the envelopes are not animated.

There is nothing really smart about OG Massive randomizer tbh.

Oh it surely is because it is not the common.. hit the dice and you get a random mess without any concept type of randomizer. Being able to set up the desired randomization percentage of each parameter or section you want to get altered can really generate a ton of useful and beautiful patches. Somethig so simple and yet powerful but still only very few developers have understood how important that is. Especially if you work with soundtrack and cinematic stuff, where you need hundreds of sound variations all the time. Definitely my favourite feature in Massive.
What a silly decision to exclude it from X..

Yeah but they create abandonware anyways. To me they are like a soulless neoliberal corporation.GeneralQ wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:36 am I actually think quite positive of NI. They are not going to go bankrupt anytime soon.

I didn’t mention it above but my MBP crashed and burned hardcore when I was installing various items from Native Access lol. The screen went blank except for the desktop wallpaper (which to me = Finder crashed), flickered a few times, then the system rebooted.SLiC wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:01 pmNative Access now started misbehaving for me, saying it has downloads then locking up and crashing.i need Help wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:08 pm So after the whiplash of Super 8 being a Reaktor Ensemble/Instrument/Whatever, being pulled out and made into a stand-alone plugin, immediately getting discontinued and thrown back into Reaktor, I don't understand why it is still available to install in Native Access, only to crash my DAW since I guess it's abandonware at this point.

It could have been something else, but Console didn’t capture anything for the crash, so I’m fine blaming NI lol.

To NI's credit, their support helped me out to install a product I purchased in 2007 (GPO 2 sample library).
Worth mentioning, IMHO, as it involved a large download (some companies, like IK multimedia, would prolly have made me pay for the privilege).
It took 15 days, but it was relatively painless.
In the end, I got a link to a 1.7GB compressed file
