But in the gumroad site I uploaded a windows vst3 format of 2RuleSynth (without an installer exe) .
You can download "2RuleSynthV-3-2_for_windows.vst3" and "Foctory.json" files.

May i suggest to keep the name of the vst file the same, between version?
Changing the name force to rescan the plugins folders, while with the same name one just reopen the project and everything works.

I came here to post the same request to the developer.

Having a uniform VST name regardless of version changes will make it easy for most DAWs to recognize the plugin without needing a rescan and the possibility of having too many VSTs (some versions with significant changes over others) of the same instrument.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a little proud that I refrained from too many "outside of the synth" modulators like LFOs and ENVs. It's only some macros to control all the different Filters (two Filters including lowcuts of Decimator and Distortion). My bdr for instance does not use a DAW envelope generator to do pitch modulation. It's a patch that has a clever combination (clever as in hours of trial & failure) of what the synth has and some FX on top. Enjoy.
May be I work over the mix, but it sounded not to bad via headphones and mobile phone speaker...

Details:
~ 20 Instances ... I have only a few layerd instruments. my snare is just one instance using FM and RingMod to get as close to snare sound as possible with just one instance ... just saying because sbdy mentioned 5 layers for her/his snare ...
Effects: My Bitwig and MeldapProduction arsenal as usual. On top TD Nova, Auburne Lense, master_me, ISOL8 and LoudMax.
Only for mixing with headphones i used Immerse Virtual Studio ... it only helps make my mixes sound really good whils still only mixing on headphones.

Yes, you are right.
The need to name the plugin appeared in MACOS. Namely: Files with VST3 extension are essentially a container (acting like a folder). I created the json extension information file of the previously created presets in this container. At that time, I was a little worried about overwriting the presets previously created by users if an upgraded vst3 plugin with the same name was overwritten. So I decided to change the name of each version for the sake of user's presets. I should have come up with a better solution. I agree with you on this. I don't know how I will continue to develop this plugin (2Rulesynth), but this naming problem you mentioned is a problem I need to solve for the next updates.

Lovely drums as usual. How did you get sounds like that from this synth. ENVs are not fast enough and I am struggling getting a kick out of this thing.

I managed a clap and a metallic sounding snare but that's that. I have a ton of lead sound and basses but I am really struggling on the percussive sounds.

Respect to you Peter. I also try not to use modulators outside of the synth. I was wondering whether to with this one - but you have inspired me not to.

Percussion seems very hard to create - so I've gone for a more classical piece this time.

Just experiment with the shortest decay and release settings for each layer. That and pitch bend for the kick. The snares around 5 layers this time. Mix of noise and FM layers for the hats. If anything needs shortening further then apply STFU on noise layers or groups

Yeah ... STFU is your friend ... for life!!

Hi all,

Learned about this friendly competition only today but loved the idea so I gave it a go. First time trying to make everything from a single synth.

I used Ableton Live 11, and used only Ableton plugins (eq8, utility, compressor, shaper, MB dynamics, autofilter, delay, gate, reverb)

I count 18 instances of the plugin (one doubled for stereo effect and another muted for the sidechain).

I would like to continue working on it but will not have time, so this is it for this round.

Cheers!

Hi synthesizer-friends,

I had a hard time this time to make a song.

It took me an entire session only to create a kick drum. Now it uses 3 synthesizer instances (low end, mid body and high transient). After that it was ok to make the snare and tom drums.

Also I made 6 versions of bass sounds, until I got somehting that met at least half way what I had in mind. ADSR controls were hard to master, even with CTRL to fine tune. Pad sounds were too synthetic for my taste and often the sounds became very unstable. The overall tonal balance of my song was bad and I changed sounds, octaves, EQs and composition a lot.

It is probably still not perfect. I intentionally made melodies more simple and played with a more dramatic key this time.

I used 21 instances of 2RuleSynth, half of them only for drums. In Reaper I used EQ, comp, limiter and an inbuilt transient script for drums. For watching the frequencies I used SPAN.

I did suggest using outside tools: your DAW comes with modulation and automation for cases like this. By limiting yourself, you're limiting yourself.

But whatever, I'll shut up.

Quite right ... so many synths (even commercial ones) have poor modulation facilities. But, most DAW's provide excellent tools to modulate a synth's parameters - so it makes perfect sense to go this route.

Hey! No need to shut up. We need people to talk sense - that way, we all learn :-) :tu:

I did get the notification email about this new version and there was a link to give feedback and half the posts were suggesting similar to this. I am going to hold off downloading and updating it in case it has become infected.

please fix the filter frequencies so they don't jump by 200hz. a lot of control is needed down near the lower frequencies.
