The direction this has taken is pretty disappointing. Now you have to join some kind of chat platform and “donate” to get the Waldorf micro Q emulator?

It’s not a donation if it’s required. They’re selling it. They should drop the pretenses and call it what it is.

You have to be on the discord server and you can get it in the beta section. I am not sure if this link will work for you or not. It does here. No money was requested.

Thanks Scotty.

I don't really know much about Discord. It sounds like IRC all over again. Nope for me!

Anyways, the reason I asked if you have to donate to get Vavra (notice the question mark) is because the article linked to on the front page of the DSP65300 Wordpress blog says you do:

"DSP56300 is available now in an alpha version for project donators."

Glad to see that's not true.

Donating got us early access to the alpha version, which is currently passed. Maybe it seems strange to be donating for the “privilege” of being a beta tester but they’re doing it for free and several of them have been long time contributors to the synth community. I was happy to give them money.

I’d be interested in the Q emulation, the others not so much…

Discord may not be your cup of tea which is fine. I use it for my retro computing hobbies, pi Amiga, the DSP emulation and a few other groups. It just another meeting place for me and a chance to talk directly with developers which I highly value. YMMV.

I got Vavra, the Waldorf emulator off discord it was easy. Left hand side is beta forum the links in there. It's worth it if you like 64 bit plugins(I don't).

It is not an emulator, it is the exact same code running on your machine, so 1:1 acurately playing the same as the original.

Ok thanks. I think the waldorf vavra sounds better than the virus c osirus.
I'm glad the presets are there, too.

Well, the DSP chip is emulated, so, you can call it emulator, I think.

IMO, they both sound very nice. Like the hardware. :)

When I first heard of this, I had to pinch myself to know that I'm not dreaming. Unfortunately, my PC at that time wasn't fit to run the Osirus (too slow CPU), so I had dropouts. But, with my current machine, I was able to use 6 instances of Vavra no problem.

Now imagine they also do the Waldorf Q, or the Supernova. :o

But, I hope for more bugfixing in both Vavra and Osirus. They have quite a few bugs. I stumbled across some more today (Ok, I think they're bugs in the emulations. Might be bugs in the original firmware as well though).

I had my objections as well, but, it's alright really.

Yes, you're right. What they mean is it's an Emulator of the DSP563xx that is being used to run the plugins. Think game console emulators. Also worth noting that the GUI's are 100% created by The Usual Suspects, plus some extra features added in. Don't want to understate the work they've put in.

First of all it's a demo
There is no ROM from the TI. I believe you need to own the hardware, they provide the instructions to get the ROM.

Please approve my post, Thanks What exciting new possibilities does the publicly available DSP56K emulator unlock for users of vintage music hardware like the Access Virus and Nord Lead? Can anyone answer my question? I will be very helpful
It's probably best explained on their site and even more on the Discord server (linked from their site)- there is already a couple of emulations available you can try for yourself! The Virus Ti is only available to 'supporters' (a $20 donation from memory.)

I don't see where their website says that you will receive the Virus TI emulator when you donate $20.
Could you explain a little more?
All emulators will be public eventually. However, by donating, you get access to current alpha and beta versions. The Ostirus emulator is the Virus TI emulator and is currently in alpha version. You'll get access to it if you donate and support the devs.
Edit: However, let's not forget you need the TI firmware file to make it work and it's the intellectual property of Access.
