Have you been searching for a way to convert your Kontakt 6 or 7 files to SFZ or Decent Sampler? We found the perfect solution, and the best part is, it's entirely online and incredibly fast and convenient. Although the full conversion including the User Interface (UI) is not yet available, you can already convert all the mapping with the WAV zones, groups, etc. In the end, only a few adjustments are needed after the conversion to make it exactly like it was in Kontakt. Does this only work with non-compressed nki Patches? Ie. It uses straight waves files? So no commercial libraries?

This project looks very interesting, i'm curious to see how will be developed more. I mean if the UI will be extracted too will be a real alternative to K

Edit: I'm trying it but doesn't seems to work, i mean it hangs on the circle.

You should implement a % bar or something cause i don't know how much time is left and that's not a good user experience

I have no libraries kontakt libraries that aren't compressed but lots of old non player libraries. Is it possible to uncompress in kontakt to convert to sfz?

Post

For me, it worked really well for the 4 NKI conversions I did, and it was very fast. So, if the circle is showing indefinitely, there might be an error during the conversion. I completely agree about the progress bar, it would greatly enhance the user experience by providing a sense of how much time is left. I'd be interested in knowing what opcodes are used when writing to SFZ--to get a better picture of how complete the translation is.

It looks interesting, but how can I tell it works without paying? Do I have to pay for each conversion?
It did seem to convert, but no way to listen to the result. Maybe you need to include a player into the site…

What opcodes do you support with the SFZ format?

All parameters are read from kontakt, in terms of zones mapping, they are read: groupname,filename,low_key,high_key,low_velocity,high_velocity,fade_low_key,fade_high_key,fade_low_velocity,fade_high_velocity,zone_volume,num_channels,num_frames,zone_tune,root_key,root_note,sample_data_type, sample_start,sample_end,sample_rate,sample_start_mod_range,tuning,zone_pan,zone_tune,zone_volume. So, by default, we insert it into SFZ, for example:
....
<group>
<region>
sample=Nord Piano 3 Samples\Grand Imperial Damped 088 118.wav
lockey=88
hikey=88
pitch_keycenter=88
lovel=106
hivel=118
volume=1
pan=0
tune=1
ampeg_release=0.2
....
but, in addition to exporting to SFZ and Decent Sampler, it is also possible to export to CSV (txt) so it is easy to manipulate or add any other parameters obtained from kontakt to your SFZ

In the desktop version of Kontakt Converter, you can make 3 free conversions for testing!

Why wouldn't it be? The converter doesn't use anything from Kontakt, no DLLs or EXEs from Native. It simply reads byte portions from the *.nki file identifying the scripts, groups, and zones portions, and brings that into a readable text format, text for SFZ, xml for Decent Sampler

Because the .nki format is proprietary. There may well be a EULA that prevents this action but I don't know either way.

I own Kontakt 7 so don't need this converter but it's a question that should at least be asked. Not so much for us but for the company providing the service.

If it allows someone to use a Kontakt library without buying Kontakt then Native Instruments might have something to say about that.
