Hello everybody!
I'm currently facing a serious issue regarding scanning for plugins in waveform free.
I have all plugins stored in a single file in "Program Files"
Once, only once, I was able to download a plug-in into the program
Now, I can't :(
It keeps telling me that I "Faced a fatal error when validating this file"
What happened?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks!

Waveform is more strict with VSTs than other DAWs. You should try posting at the Tracktion forum here

Good luck

Ok what should I do?
And what do u mean by "Strict"?
Thanks

To me, that translates to "sucks". A VST is a VST, and, unless there's something fundamentally wrong with it, a DAW should be able to recognize and run it.

I never had an issue when using Tracktion and Waveform with things not being recognized, versions 3 through 12, but I never used the free version.

Any support?
The support doesn't offer technical support for the free version.
How can I fix the issue?

Try running Waveform as an admin user. Shot in the dark, but, maybe that's the issue, when you have your plugins in Program Files, which is a folder you need admin rights to write into.

That's why I never have my VST plugin folder in Program Files, or other system folders.

Oh!
Good idea!
I'll try and come back to u in a min

Do you know the solution for the error "The following files encountered fatal errors during validation"?
Yes...I ran the program in admin mode and moved the VST plugins folder to a new place
I still get this error
plus, something new, my antivirus detected an "Exploit" during the scan
Is anyone familiar with that?

For the record I've been using Waveform 12 Free recently and it reads all my 900+ plugins. Or at least I haven't found one that doesn't work yet. I only have my favorites in my plugin list but again none of them has failed to load or work. Even on this system which has every freebie and demo/beta known to man on it has not had any issues with plugins.....

The issue reported in this thread seems more like a plugin organization/installation error on the OP's part. (notice his join date/post count)

Not a good idea especially if you have aggressive anti-ransomware settings. That's why I oppose the default VST3/CLAP file locations.

Also not a good idea to move plugin .dlls or .vst3 files to a new location after they've been installed. You can break links to resource files or copy protection.

What plugins specifically are you trying to use?

Go to Settings/File Locations/Plugins and make sure the path to your VST plugins is being scanned.

Yep, I go with everything Teksonik says with particular emphasis on not moving any folders or parts of the plugin or installation unless you know exactly what you are doing, it will lead to a world of hurt !

Also when you run the plugin scanner, it is probably worth selecting the Enable plugin sandboxing option at the bottom right of the scanner to help cope with plugins that Waveform might find difficult to handle.

I also noticed that the scanner did find FL Studio (the DAW) as a plugin but basically said,
"Nah mate, that's just not going to work in here !" and thereafter ignores it.

Just that Waveform has a low tolerance for plugins that don't fully adhere to the VST specifications.

Hello guys
Thanks very much for your collaboration
Now, What should I do?
Where should I move my plug-ins?
I also noticed that when validating the plug-in files...the plug-in GUI appears for a sec and then crashes
