Yes I thank you all. Even when I had a hard time this month I really learned something from you and from how to better use Reaper. Maybe I am still not a master but with each song I learn new tricks. I think most of my former songs have worse drums than this new one. So yes, I appreciate all your comments and I am really happy to be a member of this community...doctorbob wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2023 3:56 pmQuite right ... so many synths (even commercial ones) have poor modulation facilities. But, most DAW's provide excellent tools to modulate a synth's parameters - so it makes perfect sense to go this route.![]()
Hey! No need to shut up. We need people to talk sense - that way, we all learn![]()

I agree with you. It's not possible control the low frequencies in the filtering. The steps are always 200hz and not exponential.MadMcMan wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2023 6:26 pm
please fix the filter frequencies so they don't jump by 200hz. a lot of control is needed down near the lower frequencies.

Indeed. I have only used the filters for sound sculpting, not any realtime modulation effects. Way way too coarse for that.davi-dj wrote: Fri Sep 22, 2023 11:45 am I agree with you. It's not possible control the low frequencies in the filtering. The steps are always 200hz and not exponential.

Yes, I am aware of that issue, I need to make these corrections, it is always on my mind. But I didn't care because it didn't occur to me that you would want to design a kick
. I learned a lot from this forum. If you like 2RuleSynth, I will go further and make the necessary corrections. Thanks a lot.
Note : As far as I understand you want more precision im loer end of the filter? Is'nt it?

I don't know why it has this virus alert. I created the installer of the pluging using the Inno Setup Compiler regarding to the suggestion of Juce Framework. So I trust to them.BrainBeatMusic wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:56 amI did get the notification email about this new version and there was a link to give feedback and half the posts were suggesting similar to this. I am going to hold off downloading and updating it in case it has become infected.hockinsk3 wrote: Mon Sep 11, 2023 6:21 pm Anyone else getting a Trojan:Win32/Sabsik.FL.A!ml on downloading this synth?
But in the gumroad site I uploaded a windows vst3 format of 2RuleSynth (without an installer exe) .
You can download "2RuleSynthV-3-2_for_windows.vst3" and "Foctory.json" files.

Here's my entry this month. This was a challenging synth, but despite it's flaws, congratulations to the developer for creating something that sounds good!

There's a really weird Mid-side phase issue on headphones, sounds like something is off in your stereo alignment to me?MilksterX wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:36 am Hi All,

Thanks Hokinsk3, I'll see if I can find what it is. Haas might be the culprit on this one it always causes some phase issueshockinsk3 wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:02 amThere's a really weird Mid-side phase issue on headphones, sounds like something is off in your stereo alignment to me?MilksterX wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:36 am Hi All,

Where the rules say NO FX that change the pitch the sound, does this mean e.g. envelope pitching from the DAW note/sample rate modulators as an FX or simply post-FX that pitch the output of the Synth itself?

As I understood we can change the volume or the filter of the sound but not add anything that alters the waveform too much like distortion or pitching. As I once asked, somebody replied to me that a slight saturation might be ok even if this also adds additional amplitudes to the waveform.hockinsk3 wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:11 am Where the rules say NO FX that change the pitch the sound, does this mean e.g. envelope pitching from the DAW note/sample rate modulators as an FX or simply post-FX that pitch the output of the Synth itself?
And to be honest: even a compressor changes the sound and together with an EQ I could remove a lot to get another sound plus transient shaping and I have something new, but this way we have some degrees of freedom to make something interesting like drums.

All the rules make sense apart from no pitching FX allowed. I guess so long as any pitch modulation FX is generated from the synth internally using its own features and not driven by the DAW it's all good?

You can use a pitch envelope /LFO agains the synths pitch or tune parameter or pitch bend in your daw. Pitch modulation FX after the synth are a no no. If the synth has pitch shift fx like this one does that's fine to use.
I'm using hand drawn automation of the pitch bend for kicks and snares on mine. To get beefier drum sounds from this synth use multiple layers and parallel processing e.g one I stance has the transient another has the distortion / saturation and then balance them.

Saturation will increase overall volume if not level matched but will decrease amplitude of the waveform compressing it slightly but it will add harmonics (& sometimes aliasing). A good trick to use is to shelf off low end apply saturation and then level matching a lowshelf boost afterwards. This has the effect of saturating more of the high end of the signal. This can be useful for getting bass to cut through in the mix. Again duplicate your instances and have the dry signal mix with the wet saturated signal for finer control /& balancing.Frank Geppert wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:54 amAs I understood we can change the volume or the filter of the sound but not add anything that alters the waveform too much like distortion or pitching. "No pitching effects" include things like pitch shifters, frequency shifters, wow/flutter, or shimmer reverbs, etchockinsk3 wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:11 am Where the rules say NO FX that change the pitch the sound, does this mean e.g. envelope pitching from the DAW note/sample rate modulators as an FX or simply post-FX that pitch the output of the Synth itself?
