Another vote for groovemonkey, there's some good stuff to get started with.
Apart from that (while involving a bit more of work), a nice idea would be to hunt down a few full song MIDIs, listen to them through XPs build in GM synth - which will sound extra cheesy, but for now that's even an advance, because once you notice a drum track working well using such cheedy sounds you can most likely be sure that it will sound well played through a proper set of sampled drums as well.
In addition, properly programmed "songbased" drums usually contain some variations, fills and whatever.
A very good source seem to be some japanese MIDI composer sites (sorry, no link handy right now) as those dudes seem to develop quite some discipline in programming MIDI files.
When done with sorting out the good from the bad, you'll just load them into your sequencer and throw away everything but the drums.
