Hi im trying to achieve parallel compression by sending some of my kick to smashed compressor but there is a slight delay/flange. The kick is being routed to my drum bus and the smashed compressor(devil lock at 100% mix) is being routed to the stereo out. When I route the kick to the stereo out the problem is fixed. pls help

Could be that Soundtoys Devil-Loc introduces latency but your DAW does not compensate.
What's your DAW?

Oops, sorry, I have been mistaken! But the first thing that come to mind is this: don't use two different channels. Insert the plugin on a channel, tweak settings and adjust the mix knob in the plugin. Use one channel for compression. And then send the result to one bus only.

The problem may be Devil-Loc not reporting, rather than the DAW not compensating. I would suggest the OP try a different compressor and see if that fixes it.Etienne1973 wrote: Fri Sep 22, 2023 1:16 am Could be that Soundtoys Devil-Loc introduces latency but your DAW does not compensate.

I wonder if attack time do this if short enough
- it lets spikes through before kicking in depending on attack time
- or simply has a delay ackording to knee used when kicking in when short attack
- some compressors has settings for knee used
I mean it could be a natural cause with parallell compression depending on settings.

You may be able to fix this with a time alignment plugin, either delaying the dry signal (after fx send) or reporting additional delay to the DAW (on wet channel) to shift it "backward" in time.
To dial it in, try temporarily flipping the phase and shifting to get the most cancellation. That's easier to hear/see than the most correlation.
Voxengo has a free "Latency Delay" plygin for this purpose. There's a free airwindows plugin "SampleDelay". Your DAW might also provide suitable tools.
The Waves InPhase plugin is really meant for aligning recordings but if you have it that might provide a nice workflow for the job.
I wouls start with the Voxengo one which makes it easiest to fix integer numbers of samples, which is likely the answer here. (The airwindows integer control is limited to 10, which may or may not be enough!)

Try bumping the Mix knob down and see if it helps. 100% of anything can be a lot for some plugs.
