In my opinion, s1 is the best DAW, on paper. Very intuitive and fast to work with. BUT... performance on Apple silicone is glitchy, also I have many different hard-to-replicate bags with automation and plugin handling. The same VST3 plugins, Mac and Win, sometimes do not load on Windows PC. Cubase is rock solid on AS macs, but creating in Cubase after Studio One feels like work.

I think I missed a lot. Can you tell me where to look at Cubase 13 screenshots? When is the release time?

p.s. I have a friend who is converted ex Cubase and he says to me I need to try Studio one. Apparently, it is very very good (for him). He says it seems to him as if someone grabbed the best Cubase and Logic ideas and made it into Studio One. Actually, he can not stop praising Studio One.

I really enjoy S1. I have Cubase, but the limitations on an M1 silicon, and only VST3 is kind of a PITA. S1 also has some really intuitive routing systems especially with sidechain. I think people sleep on S1 a lot. Luca Pretolesi is an S1 user, and an engineer for OVO 40/Drake. He has a lot of really great videos on his youtube channel. He actually got me into using S1 from watching his videos. I am a long, long, long time Ableton and FL user since 2011. FL is way too buggy right now (probably all the new updates, cloud samples, ai mastering, sample extraction). So I stopped using FL because of those issues with crashing and the UI bugging out like crazy. With Ableton, I have had a very difficult time with some of their employees (wont get into it, bad experience). So when switching to S1, it has been amazing. I feel as though I have the best of both worlds, things I like in Cubase, and things I like in Ableton. I would highly recommend S1 to everyone, or at least try it for 2 weeks.

I'd think that remark regards rather more than a visual of Cubase 13's Inspector and the decision obviously driven by a marketing thrust. But then, this change indicates a prioritizing of connection (over MIDI Inserts) which is one objective criteria that may lie outside of product-to-product comparison. Historically Studio One comes from frustrated Steiny people. I've nothing against it at all, but that little snapshot as repping "the best of" S1 and Logic as though magically superior is some hype. I've tried both of them, and for me there were deficiencies just as there are for others with Cubendo.

I remarked exactly the same as regards the visual style, which seems obvious enough. I like the 'before' more than the 'after', myself.

It's probably not intentional, but, it indeed looks more like Studio One now.

Whether that is a good or a bad thing.

Actually, Cubase got quite a few GUI features which were first seen on Studio One in the last few versions. Let's just say that it looks like that someone sees beyond his nose (I'm sure they all do).

Also it's (in context ironic and) laughable the presentation of that difference - in its severe crop job - shows nothing of a functional difference, just re: visual style which is totally subjective.

The VST 3 thing chafes me a little as well, tbh. Right now I can't do the Silicon Cubase because of two products which aren't ready: VSL Vienna Suite Pro and BFD3. VE Pro should mitigate the VS Pro FX suite problemo, but it's fatal to Cubase for some reason here.

Uhh. You do know that after S1 came out Cubase complete rewrote a lot of their interface to look and work just like Studio One right? Go look back at Cubase 8 and then look at the Cubase 10. It's almost like an S1 knockoff they even took the way S1 add tracks and the drag and dropping of effects on a track.

I don't think that was about S1 being superior, just seems rich to call S1 a "pale carbon copy" of Cubase when Steinberg has basically been taking a lot of S1's interface and UX ideas and transplanting them to Cubase for years at this point.

Yep. And, going for a one window setup, instead of opening a new window for everything.

Anyway, nothing wrong with copying good things.

Studio One copied a lot of things from Cubase as well, obviously. But, that's how it always felt to me: Like Cubase without the clutter and the dead wood. It's surely not all gold, but, it simply does a lot of things right.
