If I would be like some other people here, I would ask you for a source for that statement. ;)

I guess none of us really knows for sure. I wouldn't regularly use different DAWs. I have no reason to do so, and, it would confuse me more than it would be of benefit.

So, two DAWs with small user bases team up to make their sessions compatible, commendable for sure but mostly useless

I agree.

If there is no general system which everyone uses, it's pretty useless. And, most DAW developers will also consider if they really want to implement something which would make people use competitive products instead, I guess.

If you want to give your music to mastering, you will render it anyway.

This is the beginning of such a system. How else would you expect it to come into this world?

The simple fact most of pro-audio file will jump from a daw, bounced to stems to go for mastering into pro-tools for example? Which is a very solid portion of most of commercials files nowadays. It's just how the industry works overall...

Again, you're talking about something that should have been there for decade, with or without a user base asking for it. Most of 3d software, for example, support in one way or another a way to export to a common ground that don't necessarily is perfect but at least offer an option, which gives you a way to more or less backup from an abandoned software. Just as an example of a very useful feature of what could be done with this.

If the intentions is to gain new users/customers, no one is going to jump ship for this. Changing your DAW for this is insane.
Game changer :hihi:
Useful in some instances? Of course.

If someone doesn't care about open standards then that's their loss.

I'm stoked to see they're working their ass off on open standards and integrations! They've just introduced an integration with TouchDesigner! 😍

game changer. uh-huh. sure. this is a marketing gimmick. the utility value is _maybe_ useful for like .5% of DAW users. no games getting changed that I can see.

Antithesis: People will be encouraged to use a 2nd DAW for certain things they like about it but are not willing to change their workflow in favor of the new one.

= Best of both worlds. With flawless DAW-/Project-hopping.

Btw, FL Studio works as a VST. That's why I still use it. Only because of this (loading it in Ableton Live). That's sort of a merger of both DAWs ... to my satisfaction. If Reaper would jump on the DAWproject-train I'd be more than happy since I use it for tasks where Live sucks.

Since I used the word, let me try to explain.
I don't have Bitwig, I have studio one pro v4, would this encourage me to update to 6.5.. probably.. but not this alone.

But what makes this a gamechanger for me or potentially is if other DAWs, like Cubendo and ProTools join in... that is huge for what I do.

It's great that we have so many experts here that know everything about numbers on the usage of this specific feature!

- Only useful for 7 people.
- Only useful for 0.5% of the users.

It would be nice if people would stop pulling numbers out of their arses and just share their opinion that they don't like it.

I highly doubt that. And, that can't really be the purpose of it either, considering most DAWs try to be jack of all trades (yes, that includes mixing and mastering).

If anything, they sell you an additional feature here, as usual.

True. You should include the people who think this is a major thing everyone does though.

I clearly don't expect it to be a game changer for everyone.. Nothing is..
not even Midi was for people who only record acoustic instruments to tape.
