EDIT: So far so good...
Working as usual
MOTU 828x
eMagic AMT8
Cubase 12 Pro
Wavelab 11 Pro
MIDIQuest 13
(Updating my Ableton Live Suite to 11.3.11 as I type)
Plugins tested so far (VST3 versions):
UAD
Softube (American Class A channel and Bus Processor)
SSL
Soundtoys bundle
Valhalla (we knew this though)
PSP
Eventide
Minimal Audio (at least Rift, good sign the rest work knowing them)
Arturia Pigments
Halion
Groove Agent
Seems most of my stuff is working so far.

Sounds like Apple should start naming their OS releases after less-glamorous California counties like Fresno, Lake, and Contra Costa!machinesworking wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2023 8:14 amWell damn? that's not a good sign, seems Apple might be breaking some "priority" settings in their OS, and that's causing strange things in audio. It's not the same bug, but the idea that it would be much much worse for me in a browser VS a DAW made me think it might have something to do with that, and this "gaming" priority thing they're touting in Sonoma.jancivil wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:21 am Well, the issue that had me reaching like that was entirely audio, .............
So I was actually kind of hoping Sonoma would de facto be a fix of a bug. That makes me think that it might be possible that Game Mode also benefits DAWs, video editors etc. but in the process Apple might be screwing some things up.With macOS Sonoma, Apple has a new feature called Game Mode, which kicks in automatically when the user launches a game and gives it top CPU and GPU priority to maximize the game's performance. It also improves connectivity with wireless devices, so items such as controllers and AirPods have less latency.![]()
Back OT, keeping an eye on this as I need to get a new MacBook soon.

Unless I missed something, Cherry's official line is that they do not support Sonoma yet:wangeroge wrote: Mon Sep 25, 2023 9:59 am The following plugins are compatible to macOS Sonoma:

By the way, I just upgraded macOS and Cubase + plugins work fine up to now.

i agree... that's why i've been running the OS betas since junegrrrz wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:57 pm as a general rule don't upgrade your OS on day one. (I'd even go as far as saying you should wait the next OS update to be safe)
people can do whatever they want, as long as they accept the consequences. for me, on logic, everything works, and has since the first beta (i use mostly 3rd-party plugins).
a 'finished' OS is not a guarantee that everything is under control, anymore than a .1 or .3 update. OS development is never a straight line forward; some things get fixed, others break. and so on.
so we dive in whenever we want.. then untangle a mess. or not

updated; opened a project in logic
Apple Logic 10.7.9
UAD plugins (native and dsp)
NI Molekular
Soundtoys
Uhe Repro1
Moog Moogerfoogers
Softube Console 1 (SSL XL9000k)
Apogee Softlimit
The haphazardly threw on other stuff from Cherry Audio, Izotope Vocalsynth, Ohmicide, threw in Xfer Serum, BX Townhouse Buss, more UA stuff, Soundtoys stuff, Space Designer, duplicated tracks during playback, used a couple plugs that have crashed previous sessions this year (ADA flanger, Shadow Hills Class A, Excalibur, Izotope Trash2, Reaktor stuff)
Opened another project without closing the first, and other than some expected slowdowns from doing ridiculous things, nothing crashed or got stuck.
In UAD Console, some bypassed plugins have flickery meters.
Had a mild crackley thing with Molekular (longer phasier delay) but only its channel, project kept time. Nothing show stopping or hard crashing.
Console 1 on screen display didn’t startup when I booted, but started it up mid session…no complaints from it. Caught on to each session when toggling the focus between them.

After 2 days of testing I can confirm that:
Cubase Pro, Live Suite, Reason and of course Logic work just fine under Sonoma
Plug-ins wise i can confirm that everything in Roland Cloud works as expected and so is all Arturia,
NI latest Komplete and all of my 79 other plugins
No surprises really since Sonoma is just refined version of Ventura

really, there is so much evidence that logic should not have 2 projects open at the same time; so many people have reported extremely-serious issues, destroyed projects... etc. just mentioning thistheviirus wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 5:18 am updated; opened a project in logic

strange, i’ve never heard that at all nor had anything bad happened when I accidentally did it in the past.fisherKing wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:15 pmreally, there is so much evidence that logic should not have 2 projects open at the same time; so many people have reported extremely-serious issues, destroyed projects... etc. just mentioning thistheviirus wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 5:18 am updated; opened a project in logic

What I did hear way back in the 00s; Stuart Price, while on tour with Madonna, would open ALL of the 20 or so songs for the night at once…and tab through the open projects and manually press play on the next one in the set.
The Logic people met Price while on tour to see how he was using Logic when Price disclosed this to them. They were shocked because Logic wasn’t designed to have a ton of projects open at once and were surprised it works and had been working without any major issues the entire “Confessions” tour.

lots of reports of serious issues on logicprohelp, reddit... anyway, just something to keep in mind...theviirus wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:51 pmstrange, i’ve never heard that at all nor had anything bad happened when I accidentally did it in the past.fisherKing wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:15 pmreally, there is so much evidence that logic should not have 2 projects open at the same time; so many people have reported extremely-serious issues, destroyed projects... etc. just mentioning thistheviirus wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 5:18 am updated; opened a project in logic

I see no reports of “serious” issues on Logicprohelp. Just something about NI not “supporting” Sonoma right now (synths and effects work fine), and something with Halion dialog windows being empty.
Not even going to bother with the people on reddit.

talking about having more than one project open in logic, not plugin compatibility with sonoma.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 3:10 pm I see no reports of “serious” issues on Logicprohelp.
