Any VST midi phrase player similar to Roland RPS from JP8000 etc?

Hi guys,
Firstly, I'm not sure if I've got my facts entirely straight, the JP8000 could play back RPS "realtime phrase samples" per key which were just performance recordings of the control panel knobs etc lasting a few seconds, I assume it included the melodic riff or baseline you were playing too.
But I might be a bit wrong and be confusing that functionality with the old blue JX-305 GrooveSynth keyboard.

My question is, is there an arpeggiator type of plugin into which I can load a midi file loop, either a drum loop or 303 line, etc, and then just have it played back unchanged but looping, and transposed a semitone with each key up or down from the root note?

The arp in Dune is a perfect example, exactly what I want, it just doesn't transmit midi output, so I couldn't export it or send it on to drive another vst plugin.

I'm aware of Venomode Phrasebox, which I think is the closest to what I want, not sure if it loads existing midi files though.
Are there any others that I should know about? I find it hard to believe that this isn't a more saturated niche of the market.

FYI, I don't have Kontakt, so although I know there are tons of midi generators and tools for K, it won't help me.

Looking forward to your responses. Thanks guys :tu:

Pretty much any DAW that has clips ala Bitwig/Live can do this

Phrasebox lets you drag & drop Midi files onto its Piano Roll. Should be on Sale right now for a decent Price, but forgot where exactly it was.

Thanks El°HYM, I'll Google that for interest, but my music budget is too broke to buy anything atm :(

Thanks for the response VarikusB. Could you explain briefly how you would do this in Live? I'm not an Ableton guy but I have Live Lite. Basically you're saying you can turn the clip player into a "midi sampler"? Is that a quick global setting done in the piano roll view of the clip, or are you talking about populating a whole session of clips with transposed versions in each slot and assigned to each key manually?
Cos I'm really looking for a super quick drag and drop workflow where the file is automatically transposed to the keys as you play, no manual set up required. Very much like Simpler sampler in Live, but for midi.
Phrasebox seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. There was another one I heard mentioned recently, can't remember the name, just remember the interface was quite pink and there was no demo, but it was priced around $29.
Are there any other "midi file samplers" I should know about?
I have ReMIDI 2 which is very useful, but it's not designed for this particular use I'm describing. It's great for remixing existing midi files though... I'll give it a free "plug" here. :tu:

Another similar idea, but not exactly in my ballpark is Redux by Renoise. That thing looks super powerful, and if it wasn't for the tracker interface I'd be selling stuff to get it.
I should double check if it can load midi files. It's an 8 track phrase sequencer/player, so there's a lot of room to move, like a scratchpad DAW in your DAW! It was $65 the last time I checked though.
It sucks being a hobbyist atm. Urgh.
Any more suggestions welcome, especially the quick n fast ones like Phrasebox. Especially if they're free!
It's kinda ridiculous, I have all the other Venomode plugins, just not Phrasebox.
Pfft.

Aargh! I thought I found my solution for a moment in Ascension synth, which I already own but never use. It's arp has a midi file player mode, but it doesn't send the midi out to the outside world in realtime. There is a drag n drop midi from their arp function, but that's not what I'm looking for.
The search continues... for free stuff. At least for now.

Maybe a bit more than requested:

Pluginguru Unify

It has the built-in MIDI-effect MidiBox, where you can load a MIDI file and use this as a pattern for playing a sequence when you play note. Since Unify is for stacking instruments, this is cool for building one-finger chords and loops.

Edit: as far as I remember, in Halion you can also load MIDI files and use them as phrases.

Thanks for the Unify tip SamDi! That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Is it possible to route the midi out to another track in realtime?
I'm gonna check out Unify anyway. I wasn't so keen on the "loaded with freeware" bloatware impression I got, but obviously the Guru has to provide some presets to start with. I'm hoping there's a free intro tier, just so I can use the arp/midi file player :))

Downloading Unify demo as we speak.
I have half a mind...to knock something together in Reaktor, but that could literally take me years! I'm such a noob. A deconstructor rather than constructor. But I think it's worth snooping around to see if it looks doable for a Reaktor-challenged block head. Nope, I won't do it in Blocks, I'm still on R5. I get the feeling I'm gonna get stuck at step one just trying to find a sequencer that will load a midi file! Urgh. But maybe I'll get lucky.

Seems that Unify doesn't give any MIDI data out, thus you need to load the synth(s) you want to play in Unify.

What I found out by coincidence, that CTHULHU by XFER you can also load a midi file. Maybe you should have a look on that.

I don't think, that Reaktor is giving you, want you want. I can not remember any module, where you could load a midi file....

Sorry for very late response! Will have to check out Cthulhu again :tu:
