Hi,
I dunno what you are talking about. I upgraded to 1.6 and I see just tiny "wooden" sides. The window is not too big, actually smaller than previous versions and there is no more button clicking to access fx, I guess!

I think those who use it extended/dual pane will find it much less objectionable than those who use it single pane, like I did.
Once someone indeed pointed out that the dual pane view was less objectionable I switched, because I dn't think Gforce is about to change it and at some points there will be updates beyond GUI that I will want to use.

I heard back from Graeme @ GForce and he said "...we are taking on board the criticism the GUI has received and will reflect upon it."
So they are listening. And thinking...

I tried googling this an maybe I just suck at searching but I can't find an answer: Is the GForce Oberheim SEM monophonic only? I read that you can use 8 SEMs or something like that to make it poly, but that sounds like a PIA, I prefer a poly setting or something like that instead of having to layer instruments. Unless I'm misunderstanding what that means. Thanks.

You should go to their website where SEM is described as "A SIMPLE MONOPHONIC SYNTH" and "An Authentic Oberheim Monosynth" in big letters.seangm wrote: Fri Sep 29, 2023 7:03 pm I tried googling this an maybe I just suck at searching but I can't find an answer: Is the GForce Oberheim SEM monophonic only? You might be getting it confused with it's big brother OB-E which is an eight-voice synth - essentially 8 SEMs together. If you really want poly then I think maybe neither of these synths are for you.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thanks, yeah I'm probably getting those two confused.pough wrote: Fri Sep 29, 2023 7:18 pmYou should go to their website where SEM is described as "A SIMPLE MONOPHONIC SYNTH" and "An Authentic Oberheim Monosynth" in big letters.seangm wrote: Fri Sep 29, 2023 7:03 pm I tried googling this an maybe I just suck at searching but I can't find an answer: Is the GForce Oberheim SEM monophonic only? I don't mind the update since I only ever use it in expanded mode. The small mode is definitely screaming "ARTURIA!". Overall, I preferred the flat and would happily return to that.
The 2 gforce synths I have still suffer from some usability issues, like if you click the preset to browse, you shouldn't have to use a Close button at the bottom of the screen (it's good to have, but clicking the preset bar should also close it since it opened it). Little things like that really signal that they need to have a professional UX person review the experience - NOT a visual artist.

If you click in that area it closes the Preset Browser.

By the way, screw all y'all. I'm going to ask for MORE wood. Gimme lots of wood and 100 tabs with a single control under each tab. Tabs and wood and the tabs are made of wood and the wood has termites and the termites move the knobs.
Please oh please let it be that they paid for a fancy consultant who came in and recommended they make an update for nothing more than wasted space. That's the kind of decision that should be made by someone who's smugly out of touch and overpaid.
In any case it still sounds good and I mostly use presets.
PS. I agree with vitocorleone123 - if it opens the preset browser it should also close the preset browser. But I'm the kind of guy who disagrees with fancy consultants.

It has been suggested that the update is less objectionable with regards to wasted space, when used in extended view.
Allow me to present further evidence, which shows that even in this extended view, the new GUI design occupies almost a third of its total vertical space, dedicated purely to the newly introduced non-functional, pseudo-3D skeuomorphic graphical elements.

In short, ... Yup! It's still a waste of space. (just better disguised).

I think it's pretty cool the Oberheim is extended with a desktop simulator.
I hope they'll add some walls and stuff next.
And a dog (to adjust the sound).

What GForce doing?

I heard that the demo version will come with the sound of pouring coffee into a cup instead of the regular demo hiss that other companies use.
