What is the best value vocoder vst? One that can be used on synths or as an effect, not just for vocals, since my music has none.
Preferrably cheap too. Since I cant afford the Arturia Vocoder V at 200euros, or anything close. License transfers notwithstanding.
Thanks. I have the cherry audio rockmode processor version but it sounds pretty rough tbh

TAL is free.
I picked up a XILS one awhile back for under $50.
Black Friday sales are coming. Demo several and pick the one(s) you like and wait for the sales.

I don't know if what you're referring to as "rough" is related to the number of bands the frequency spectrum is split into.
Emulations of vintage analog vocoders are pretty low on that (like 8, 16, 20 bands), and it's part of the characteristic sound.
You could try modern digital vocoders like MVocoder (as mentioned above), which is cheap, sounds nice and goes up to 100 bands, giving you more "sound definition", if that's what you're after.

Waldorf Lector was on sale recently for 34.99 USD at Audio Plugin Deals.

Very good chance offer comes around again.

i dont know if its down to the number of bands, but the cherry audio product just seemed a bit rough. Not sure how else to put it. Lacking in definition and the tone control didn't really seem to do much.Niowiad wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 5:06 pmThe Cherry vocoder sounds cool to me.ghostwhistler wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 2:23 pm What is the best value vocoder vst? With hardware vocoders the number of bands doesn't always relate to the intelligibility, I would imagine the same for digital emulations and purely digital creations.
If you are not using vocals that may not be an issue, but what are you intending to use as your modulator?
