incredible update, proper loving Genopatch, but i could live without that 'upgrade patch' popup when i load an old preset, it is really annoying, the orange triangle next to the preset name is enough to let me know i can update it if i want to, really don't need that popup

I think it's a good learning experience to create a sound from a sample, see how it's constructed, and then go and try and reconstruct it on another synth. I love it, it's so much fun, but is it good enough to actually use? I don't know at this point.

Very true but then again wouldn't that be 'swedished' instead ? :D

Linux. Yep. Xubuntu 22.04, yabridge. Bitwig 5.0.9. Running for years plugins from Rob Papen, Melda, Voxengo, Sonic Charge, Sugarbytes, IK Multimedia, Tone2, ...

Synplant2 : Haven't tried Genopatch yet.

VST2 works rather nicely. Editing sounds, saving as Bitwig preset, reloading. Quick response.

Couldn't get VST3 to work. Bitwig reports it's done loading the plugin but nothing happens, no GUI no nothing. Unusable. Reverted back to the VST2 version. As far as I'm concerned I'm OK with VST2.

Cannot load Synplant 1 Bitwig presets. Does the same as above. Nothing happens. Becomes unusable.

All in all - with a bit more testing for stability - at $50 it's worthwhile as a creative addition to the sound palette especially considering the Genopatch aspect of it from the existing demo video, which I'll will try for functionality before buying.

happened to me yesterday,
it was like a Drug.
it IS allready kinda like a drug !

Magnus, developing this further in very specific ways, could create a Audio-software whit the intention, it "to be a Drug". Sounds absurd, i know. I would guess the "addictive Synthesis" term will pop up frequently.

usefull ness ? sounds ?
some sounddesigners -for games or film or so- will think its a dream.
Or for electronic music that does not have to mimic the spirit of Techo or House etc.
With the sounds i allready had, could you make very funny tracks.
would be uncomparably more work to get these sounds in lets say VCV Rack or so.
That was just after scratching its surface ....and NOT reading the manual.

using it with several parameters CC mapped to faders. And "playing" the thing.
Which makes a difference !
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

First impressions:

Cautiously optimistic. Genopatch is fun. Synth itself is very limited in annoying ways, meaning it's difficult to further tweak interesting Genopatches so that they play nicely over the whole keyboard.

The Reverb effect causes Synplant to have a very distinct overall tonality and Genopatch seems to use the reverb a lot in it's final results. Unfortunately I personally don't like the sound of the reverb all that much.. which makes virtually all the presets and Genopatches using the reverb colored in a way that I dislike the sound.

Synplant 2 sounds by far best when summed to mono, that's when the reverb works as a part of the sound. So it's a real chore that I can't find any way of adjusting the overall stereo image of the synth itself and have to use a plugin after Synplant 2 to do this (not a big deal but slightly annoying).

The interface is a bit annoying with the main envelope release control being on the front page but not found on the envelope page. This means a lot of jumping back and forth when trying to sculpt a sound to play the way you want it to.

Anyhow, I will continue trying this out for the next few weeks. Definitely going to purchase it as Sonic Charge deserves every penny.. it's one of my favorite developers. I do hope Synplant 2 is further developed with some quality of life updates. As it stands now, I was expecting a bit more in the way of user tweakable settings.. but considering how the AI thing works, I can understand why that wasn't optimal.

it comes really close to my samples and synth loops - great AI

This thing is ridiculously good.

It took me all of 5 minutes before deciding to purchase it.

Not sure how active Magnus (or anyone else from SC for that matter) is here on KVR. So I'd suggest also posting about feature suggestions or bugs over there in the forum on SC's website:

Meanwhile, after having gone through all of the 600 presets, I definitely agree that there is a certain sound of Synplant's reverb that at times is a little over-used.

I have no presets, are they from v1 or are they hidden in a folder ?

My computer wheezes when generating from a wave file. Interesting product for experimentation if nothing else.
