This addresses one of my concerns.bmanic wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:43 pm it's difficult to further tweak interesting Genopatches so that they play nicely over the whole keyboard.

i had the opposite experience, i find it really cool how some of the sounds react when you play them across the keyboard

There should be a Synplant2 folder with new presets, in addition to any already there from V1.sacer wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 2:59 pm I have no presets, are they from v1 or are they hidden in a folder ?

You do have to browse to them though, for me they did not show at first either

I have to be honest. The AI Genopatch thingy, its pretty cool, but everytime i throw something at it thats not a "simple" synth patch i can see how the AI is ready to generate that patch, but the synplant synth engine is like : "nope not with me, thats too complicated for me". I can only imagine what serum or something like zebra would be able to do with it. I hope some other, more capable synths, are gonna implement sth like this. Its definitely fun

I totally agree on each point.bmanic wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:43 pm The Reverb effect causes Synplant to have a very distinct overall tonality and Genopatch seems to use the reverb a lot in it's final results. Unfortunately I personally don't like the sound of the reverb all that much.. which makes virtually all the presets and Genopatches using the reverb colored in a way that I dislike the sound.
my solution was: i HAD to CC map three Reverb parameters to HW controls.
At first, while not exactly knwoing what i was doing, was i allways under the impression that the reverb parameters were again and again reset to wet adjustments. Not sure about the pattern.
it nearly killed SP2 for me. (later on i just played with my own sounds)
Reverb definitly needs to have a on-off button, + a freeze the Reverb settings button !
ie. keep settings while changing a sound/preset
yeah, made a difference for me. so i finally forked it out. Otherwise i probably would have not. its nothing i need to have. But fun to tinker-job around with itbmanic wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 1:43 pm Definitely going to purchase it as Sonic Charge deserves every penny.

You get 297 pre-installed and an additional 300 you can download from your SC account once you buy it.sacer wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 2:59 pmI have no presets, are they from v1 or are they hidden in a folder ?jules99 wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 2:51 pm Not sure how active Magnus (or anyone else from SC for that matter) is here on KVR. So I'd suggest also posting about feature suggestions or bugs over there in the forum on SC's website:

Meanwhile, after having gone through all of the 600 presets, I definitely agree that there is a certain sound of Synplant's reverb that at times is a little over-used.

I really wish there was a user assignable traditional envelope, velocity, aftertouch and extra LFO that could be assigned to any and all parameters within Synplant 2. It would make it a lot more capable than it is right now.
It's strange to be playing with such a limited synthesizer in 2023. For instance the oscillator sounds absolutely phenomenal when you modulate the shape change (I used the built in LFO in Reaper) yet there is no way to modulate it with an LFO in Synplant 2 itself. There are so many parameters that would benefit greatly from being modulated by things like envelopes, velocity etc.. stuff that sounds really great. It's rather frustrating to have this simplicity when everything is so smoothly interpolated that it could easily be modulated and would produce supreme sounding results.
I really hope Sonic Charge will at some point make a more traditional synth with all the building blocks they already have available. While the AI stuff is cool and all, I just don't feel all that inspired by anything I've had it cook up yet. One thing it does do rather well is drums.. it's fun to analyze a bunch of simple drum sounds and have the AI completely screw it up.
I do have one feature request that should be possible to implement easily:
Would love to see the main Velocity slider be assignable as a positive unipolar control. As it is now, it seems to be negative unipolar, meaning the hardest velocities correspond to the current settings. This is rather backwards and not how most synths use velocity. It's awkward to use and isn't intuitive at all.

user presets are in documents and factory presets are in programs - it's not good to navigate each time, a browser or a short link to user and factory presets would be betteraMUSEd wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 4:16 pmYou do have to browse to them though, for me they did not show at first either
On the other hand, i don't need factory presets - it's so amazing to copy my favorite synth samples

Confirmed! Also not working in FL Studio on Win11 (i.e. it's a Sonic Charge ~ FL Studio on Windows issue).
When I initially reported the bug on Sonic Charge's forum, Magnus was under the false impression that FL Studio's browser was unable to drag and drop audio files on the OS File Explorer, or Desktop. I have confirmed this is not the case, in a video demonstrating that it can. So hopefully, they'll look into fixing it.
And another user also posted a video demonstrating drag and drop working between FL Studio and Kilohearts' Phase Plant.Magnus Lidström today14:36
Unfortunately, FL Studio doesn't seem to support OS-level dragging from the DAW to another destination. An easy way to test this is by trying to drag an audio clip from FL Studio to the Windows Explorer Desktop. If that doesn't work, it will not work dragging to Synplant either.
Hopefully, once Magnus realises this function does actually work in FL Studio. He'll also get it working for Synplant 2.
In the meantime, I also queried on Kilohearts Discord, if there were any specific differences between the DAWs to get that functionality working in FL Studio in particular. If any of their devs mention anything that could be of use, I'll pass that on to Magnus also.
It's typical, I was perhaps one of the first people to specifically request for the drag and drop functionality, several months ago on their forum, while they were still early in their beta testing phase. It's just my luck that the one DAW which this is currently not working in, happens to be the one I use. I never thought to specifically mention the DAW also, when making that initial request. Doh!
It really is a workflow killer without it though. So I hope they can perhaps resolve the issue in a hotfix or minor update before too long.
If anyone has any tips for Sonic Charge on how to add such support in FL Studio, they can post it on the same bug report forum.

Agreed, preset handling sucks. Found my workaround to deal with it:
i need to have a certain folder open ( thru using SP2)
then i can click there the preset names, and SP3 (edit: SP2 ofcoarse) reacts to it.
I can also directly rename allready listened presets there, so i can tag the few ones i´d like to come back to. And QWERTY uo-down arrows work there too ( i´m on a mac).
Qs:
1. How are you folks creating the good drum sounds ?
what type of samples ? what lenght
2. how to avoid that each "key" sounds different ? (at Genopatch creation stage)
3. whats the 4 strings there in genopatch, how are these related to each other ?
(just overflew the manual so far / is it explained there ? )

This might sound like a silly question, but what is SP3?Funky40 wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 7:08 pm Agreed, preset handling sucks. Found my workaround to deal with it:
