Are there any lesser-known Korg MS-20 VSTs?

I'm wondering if there's anything beyond the official MS-20 VST and the Arturia one.
Like, if you search for a Prophet 5 VST, all Google is going to show you is Repro-5 and Arturia, but Memorymoon Messiah exists...
So yeah, I'm wondering if there's any chance there's an MS-20 equivalent to Memorymoon Messiah.

I don’t remember of any other MS-20 plugin. Maybe there was something “inspired” in the early Synthedit days, but I don’t remember at all (if something did exist, maybe it wasn’t worth enough to remember?).
I guess one issue is in the interface with patch cables, which requires some additional development effort in comparison to a standard interface.
If you’re happy with synth with a MS-20 filter, then the aforementioned Diva is in the list for sure.
The MS-20 has a few tricks to offer, but any plugin with that filter (and decent modulation capabilities) covers already a lot of the MS-20 ground in my opinion.

Not sure why you want an alternative to the official software version, or the perfectly good Arturia version. But nothing comes to mind unless there's some obscure Reaktor recreation somewhere.

IMHO Reaktor Blocks has the best MS-20 filter (better than Korg’s recreation and Arturia, but no better than Cytomic The Drop) but I’m not sure about the rest the of components e.g. OSC, EG. I’m convinced that somebody could approximate it. The filter really is the most characteristic element of the MS-20 sound. In terms of routing everything is possible in Reaktor.egbert101 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:04 am Not sure why you want an alternative to the official software version, or the perfectly good Arturia version. I find diva to be my favorite ms-20 in software, even though it doesn't have all the features. I have a hardware behringer k2 so that does it for me. The arturia is OK with its own tricks but doesnt scratch the ms20 itch enough as the oscs are just too dull sounding. Other sources through the arturia ms-20 filters can be nice though, like Trillian synth sound sources.

Behringer's K2 is very affordable. If you're into getting "the real deal".
Frankly, Korg's emulation is pretty bad. I know some people will disagree with me about that, but, from all that I've heard from the MS-20 in sound demos, it doesn't sound like the real synth. The original can be quite creamy and pleasant sounding, if it's not wild and aggressive. The softie is just harsh and sounds dry (in: the opposite of creamy and "smudgy").
I don't know if you would be happy with any emulation, if you compared it to a real MS-20. IMO, they all sound off, also Arturia's.
Edit: Just saw that Echoes in the Attic pretty much posted the same, haha.

I'm a bit surprised GForce Software haven't done one, as it's usually their kind of thing, but I guess Korg's own version has been around for so long, there wasn't much demand. Also modular with feedback and self-resonance in software can be problematic in terms of CPU and modeling.

Not a VST, but you can check out the Behringer K2 as it’s about the same price as the Arturia VST.
Edit: oops ….a couple of you mentioned it already.

Because the korg vst isn't good. Arturia is OK but dull, doesn't feel like hardwareegbert101 wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:04 am Not sure why you want an alternative to the official software version, or the perfectly good Arturia.
