This is so badass. I can’t even think of a legitimate excuse to not get it.

Impact upgrade - highly recommend for instant textures of outer world, when using choirs or pads as source.

I can really dive into my converted samples - really cool to manipulate these sounds in an new unique way. I really like how it sounds. I also have no problem to turn the reverb off and run the raw sound through my Favorit reverb plugins. The sound quality of the synth engine is good enough to come really close to my ARP2600, Sub37, Matriarch and modular samples - they imitate also the character of the source synth really close - I am really overwhelmed and love Synplant 2.
I had everything from sonic charge, but not Synplant 1, because I didn’t like V1. With V2 I have a really nice way for sounddesign, especially for percussive sounds and to imitate other synth sounds.

Reverb is often additional sugar to sell sound sets for other synths and SP2 does not make an exception regarding its common use. That it has it built into its Genopatch does not justify the use per se.

I disagree about only two ways to create sounds. as mentioned. There's a third way : coming up with a sound that is right for a composition. Sound creation within a context, not in the absolute.

Is there a utility or a way to batch-convert SP1 patches so that SP2 does not prompt each time one is loaded ? Not a big hindrance, only wondering.c0nsilience wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 1:39 pm SP2 is fully backward compatible with SP1. I’ve had zero issues with loading any third party sound sets in SP2, fwiw.
EDIT : Actually it's awkward. I thought that clicking 'upgrade' would actually update the patch, done. No. It has to be saved afterwards. And the awkward thing is that the file save dialog box does not open where the patch was loaded from. So there's no way to quickly save an upgraded patch as far as I see it, and be done with it. It has to be navigated to where the patch is to update it in place. And when that is done, it will save the patch as a double, it will not overwrite the original. A 'quick save' option would be very nice.

I'm sure some scripting could handle that. Sonic Charge has a solid ecosystem of nimble minds, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Synplant 2 gets loaded down with useful scripts.mevla wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 3:20 pmIs there a utility or a way to batch-convert SP1 patches so that SP2 does not prompt each time one is loaded ? That being said, you could jump on their forum: https://soniccharge.com/forum/ where the devs are active and request it.

Yes, it certainly scriptable. I'll ask in the SC forum.c0nsilience wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 3:28 pm I'm sure some scripting could handle that. Would love to use the dark skin but the black text on the dark grey background strains my eyes in ways that nullify the eye-strain-relief benefits I get from using 'dark mode' !

Just tweak the Effect slider to taste…martiu wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 3:00 pm that genopatch thing is using a lot of reverb rendering the new sounds wet very often
If it were easy, anybody could do it!
