For a more realistic effect assign a (Bitwig) LFO to the rotation parameter. Endless gazing at a machine wash cycles with the branches quickly but softly being dragged in circles, depending on their length. While it spins pull/push back quickly some branches.

It could be nice if Genopatch was driving Zebra2 or Electra.egbert101 wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:48 am That's where this shines, in synthesizing weird sounds from samples, so there is a history or a memory of it, and this resonates in the sound making it familiar (think of Mark Fisher's Hauntology). Are you asleep already?
But like others, wish the sound engine was a bit more sophisticated and higher quality.

As a talented patch-creator professional, I wonder how you feel about that prospect? Do you feel like such technology could be a threat to those like yourself?bmanic wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:00 amSynplant 2 is just using the AI to tweak the internal simple synthesis engine until it gets as close to the target sound as it can. That's it.Aloysius wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 9:27 am Is Synplant 2 basically doing a version of resynthesis with variations? Would something like Tone2 Icarus be better suited to the casual user?
This is a concept that will soon be upon us in many more synthesizers.
Or do you envisage that being just another tool in your arsenal, to help make even better/weirder presets for synths which incorporate this kind of technology?

Can seeds be dropped into a new instance? Or easily copied and pasted?
I haven't gotten around to trying this out. I'll buy it anyway as I just love SC.

Amazing. It sounds like Aalto. Very west coast.Sampleconstruct wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:35 am More useless stuff: creating a Genopatch in Synplant 2 using a male actor's voice as sample reference. Then selecting one of the resulting seeds and taking it from there.

so...gave it a demo for approx 4 hours and had some crazy almost 'instant Aphex twin' type sounds with the new genopatch feature of what is already a brilliant synth to begin with, its not an instant purchase for me personally for some reason but I will bite the bullet when Softube stop putting some insane deals on every weekend, its a great synth, congrats to Magnus for this
anybody sampled a fart yet? ...its a curry later(madras) for me ,I will of course update later

some folks overlook something vs. what´s been phrased out here.
Its not just a AI engine which tweaks the "sound-parameters".
Probably more important, it creates branches of "modulation-morphs".
Its the sample based /edit: creation of the/ node that creates the fundament.
But its the "modulation-morphs" with which we play.
The soundengine is not that cool, but the "modulation-morphs" are playing it cool.
thats how i see it right now.

I don't get it? Can you seamlessly morph between each genopatch "dot"? If so, how? That would indeed be cool.Funky40 wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 7:23 pm some folks overlook something vs. what´s been phrased out here.

hmm, no.bmanic wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 7:52 pm I don't get it? Can you seamlessly morph between each genopatch "dot"? If so, how? That would indeed be cool.
( what´s a genopatch dot ? Thats the one on the Genopatch edit/generation page, right ? i don´t understand that page so far)
SP2 creates a "morph" in regards to a very complex modulation-engine.
Each branch out of 12 ( diatonic distribution ) has a own "modulation-setup" going. The morphs happen within, what these complex modulation setups will do.
i don´t understand everything what SP2 is doing.
But i can hear it out way clearer in the meantime.
This is unlikly just a 2 OP FM thing, imo.
AM "could" for example be part of it.
There are several points/levels where modulation, from LFO to VCO speed, can be applyed.
We do not morph between point A and point B. Which would give the user a certain control.
We morph from center out to the branches. The AI dictates whats gonna happen with the branches.
We can decide which node shall be a new center. Thats all.
At least thats my take on it. (and my attempts to phrase out my understanding)

The synth engine is not hidden in any way. It's rather simplistic. The morphing of the branches is pseudo-random in nature, it just wiggles the internal knobs you can edit yourself on the DNA page. Each branch can be thought of as a preset.. and dragging the branches is basically the amount of randomness applied. It's all been there in SP1 already. It's what made it unique.
Because it has built in frequency modulation and really capable oscillators that can create a lot of harmonics, you can get a wide variety of tones out of it.
... unfortunately you don't really have much control over these changes over time. There are no extra envelopes, LFOs or any kind of modulation at all really. You can't just assign modwheel to anything you want, nor aftertouch or velocity. Feels very strange to operate this limited of a synthesizer in 2023.
I do hope Sonic Charge makes a more complex synth at some point. They have so many amazing individual technologies that could be harnessed.
