Today Auburn Sounds is proud to release INNER PITCH (VST2 / VST3 / AU / AAX / LV2).



The aim of INNER PITCH is to be the most natural pitch-shifting engine possible and
explore the possibilities that can offer.

Key features:

• State of the art pitch-shift quality.
• Stereo-preservation. 100% linked by default.
• Lower latency than GRAILLON. (Down to 17.8 ms, vs 23 ms).
• Any source with its complex program-dependent support. Whole mixes and noise are valid inputs.

Auburn Sounds has pushed DSP efforts beyond what was covered in published
research. INNER PITCH gives instant color and vibe in a commendable way.

What you get additionally:

• Formant shifting
• A Delay Unit which includes Ping-Pong, Diffusion, and infinite feedback
• A simple in-loop 3-band EQ
• Stereoization based on a simple L/R pitch offset
• 3 types of in-loop distortion (including an ADPCM-like game codec)
• Cheat-sheet and datasheet in addition to the user manual

Is there some way to make changes to the pitch / formant in semitone steps? My OCD won't rest until it sees whole numbers.

For pitch values you can click on an interval helper. For formant and other values you'll have to press your SHIFT key and turn the knob until it feels right (being 1% off is often allright) .

Something you'll probably also want is this pro move:
- right-clic + drag on the delay XY controller changes only the delay Feedback value
- CTRL + right-click + drag on the delay XY controller changes only the delay Time value

Like all controls this can be combined with SHIFT.

What are typical use cases for a pitch shifter? Apart from vocals.

for sound design, for example changing the timbre of a sample without changing the playback speed
in ambient music is very useful to make drones and soundscapes from field recordings
before i was using pitch shifter on breakbeats, keeping the bpm high but making them thick sounding with lower pitch
