Laid down some talkbox guitar, synth and kete drum for a final reggae track for an upcoming project.

Got quite a nice minimalistic krautrock instrumental thing, just wondering what more to do with it before sending it on its way to the glue factory (YouTube).

Are you safe?

Finally disconnected my Sonicware Lofi-12, it's just not working for me. Not a bad tool, just.. not my style. It'll get sold off. Still keeping the Roland S-1.

Horked up for Vital Plus. Had the free version for a few days, loved it, jumped up to the next level. Will likely move to Pro next month (blech on being poor).

Now have room for 1 more hardware synth. Vacillating wildly on it. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and the occasional rending of garments. Ugh. Maybe more coffee will help?

Before the lockdown I discovered a fantastic young singer on YouTube from Australia - I’m in Amsterdam - I offered to compose some tracks for her if she was willing to come to Europe. I sent her some songs which she demoed at her friends studio in Melbourne and was totally blown away by her sound and individual style. We agreed that I would fly her from there to me to record an album. Then lockdown……………………………….
I assumed it was all over but six months ago she contacted me and we agreed that she would fly to Amsterdam and work on tracks with me. I ended up writing around fifty tracks which we filtered down to twenty. So! It’s been three weeks of intensive vocal recording with a young vocalist who had never been in a studio - other than to record live the YouTube video and the demo song I had written for her - before. Her pitch was almost perfect and so there’s been very little fine tuning. Strong voice and great interpretation. All in all this has been one of the most fruitful and exciting sessions of my career.
She’s back in the new year to finish the album.
Lot’s of post arranging and mixing right now…
So! That’s what I’ve been up to:)

I'm broke now!!

Got CableGuys PanShaper for Shapebox and Filterscape XL. Now I'm more ambient hat Ambient itself!!!

I am one crazy lizard, for sure.

Waiting for a USB 2 bub to be delivered so I can reconnect my MPD218 where the Lofi-12 was. I should post a pic of this nightmare nest some day...

Impulse buy: Vital presets from Anima Audio. GREAT pads and mellow stuff with the occasional oddity, fills in my need for light/airy pads and textures.

USB hub should arrive tomorrow, wheeeee! :wheee:

Eying the Behringer Pro VS Mini, but.. they're sold out everywhere. Likely for the best, not sure what I'd do with it... :nutter:

I wound up using the variant version of that (with a little tweaking and a couple of additional drum parts I can layer in) in a track, with a couple of drones and a lead part played on the 0-Ctrl. (Harmonic Shift Oscillator through Natural Gate and Beads -- 0C pressure went both to harmonics level and opened the LPG, the three rows controlled the main pitch, the harmonics stride and Beads' pitch shift, and Beads was saturating pretty heavily -- fantastic sound with a lot of possible variation in timbre, and I'm likely to come back to that patch in the future.)

I had my doubts throughout the process about going all beat-oriented again... but it turned out well, and I might slip into more of that in the future.

That sounds rad! I'd sure be interested to hear what you come up with.

Those Neutral Labs look really cool. Reminds me of that weird CMOS pedal from a while back. I think foosnark had one. I love seeing pedals and modules with little breadboards. :tu:

I just started working on a remix for our old friend Jazzyspoon. He put out a new ep earlier in the year https://jazzyspoon.bandcamp.com/album/s ... ts-vol-1-2
...and remixed a track from my last EP. Can't wait until we can share what we've been doing.

The Olegtron 4060, yeah :D I only get it out every once in a while, and it's not exactly practical, but it's a hoot. It's like bytebeats but in "stick random parts onto a breadboard" format.

Yup me too. Currently pondering picking up a Reverse Landfill Noise v9 for that exact reason.
