Considering Waves' plugins are virtually always on sale, I'm not sure if that's a good example of how (normal) sales work. I don't think that it's a very good idea in the long run either. They seem to rely on two things: Endorsements by "professionals" and never ending 80% off sales. I'm not sure how long that's going to work. It speaks volumes to me that they tried to go subscription only.
