Always liked the Exorcist samples in this one when they get going:

Wouldn't that actually summon demons??

The one album i like from Skinny Puppy is Too Dark Park. Actually, i haven't heard anything post TDP but from their debut to TDP, it's the one album I like.

Too bad the Fox series was canceled when Disney bought it. That was creepy. I'll give the new one a miss.

It's not like there is an illustrious history of Exorcist sequels. Exorcist 2 is usually regarded as one of the worst films ever made, and the studio butchered Exorcist 3 / Ninth Configuration as they didn't think there was enough horror in it.

The 3rd one with George C. Scott as Kinderman was good. Brad Dourif. Even had Karras in it. 'Legion.'

I talked my way into seeing The Exorcist when I was underage. Then, I actually paid money to see the second one - what a ripoff. I liked the third and I think the first season of the TV series couldn't have been a better sequel.

I snuck into that at a midnight showing at a repertory cinema. I remember leaving the lights on when I got home, and every time I closed my eyes, Regan's eyes were staring at me. I was 16, but had read the book numerous times by then. I read it around 14, and as I was exempted from English class and had a library study period instead, I remember reading up on Black Mass, Satanism, Possession. The librarian must,ve thought I was a little strange.

I didn't even know about this. I hope they'll make it avaialble for the fans even though it's only 2 seasons. Maybe an exorcist box set with this in it.

Who the hell thought up the idea to have a demon possessed girl tap dance??? Anyhow, i love the music in the Heretic.

Bingo. My sister and I regretfully watched it when it came on, i think it was Showtime or HBO (behind our parents back, they wouldn't let us see it). She was 11 and I was 9. We both stayed up the whole night just chatting because we couldn't sleep. That demonic face/eyes kept showing up when we tried to sleep.
So yeah, there's no other horror movie like it. The crazy thing is t's actually intended to be comedic believe it or not. Blatty wanted to do a horror that was so over the top it's comical, yet scare the living f**k out of people. Pure genius work.
The best comedy bit in the film:

Karras: what's my mother's maiden name?
Pazuzu: *vomits on his face*

Pure comedy genius.

Yeah, but you were kiddies. I was 16… :hihi:
“THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!”

There were people in the audience when I saw it who started cracking up at this. Probably at other parts, too.
“Why you do this, Dimmy?” also elicited laughter.

There were 2 seasons on FOX. They're around, either Prime or Disney. They caught the atmosphere very well.

glad to hear some others enjoyed the TV series, I thought it was a pretty well done series too. It was creepy for a regular network, which I was always thinking was going to hamstring it, and probably ultimately did anyways.

That movie scarred my mind pretty much before even seeing it. I was a small kid, we had moved to a new place, and maybe it was a People magazine or whatever, but my older sister and brother were scaring me with pictures of Regan in the magazine, and telling me she lived in this new house, waiting for me, LOL!!!! I was scared as ****! I kept thinking she was down the dark hallway, and would run full speed to jump on my bed to go to sleep. Then, somehow, I ended up seeing it on cable not far afterward, still as a small kid, and it really scared me. Whether it is silly or funny to others, that movie is grim to me. The lighting, the sound, the way it was filmed, just effective still to me. The scene where Father Merrin arrives and stands outside the house, iconic. It has held up well for me, but I already had my young mind attacked by it lol.

i was about 13 when i first saw it, and amityville around the same time.

id recently had a huge crisis of faith, and in my anger, went to the dark side!
which at 13 meant, video nasties and death metal

the first film that ever actually scared me, was alien. :o
