Yeah it's annoying. Preferences -> General - uncheck "Open Reason Companion on Startup".aMUSEd wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 10:16 pm OK Reason Companion is already annoying me, whenever I start up Reason it starts up too and gets in the way, I only see Reason when I close it

Just updated. So far definitely not worth the multiple multi-page Topics bemoaning the change in authorization method. Then again I'm not running Reason 1.0 on an IBM Model 5150 so, YMMV.
Also just found the checkbox mentioned by mjudge55 and ran here to try and post it first but got beat lol. Here's a screenshot since I took it lol:

This check box alone is suspicious. I suspect if you uncheck it, and you are on the road without internet access Reason might not open. I had this once… This renders the whole as something highly unreliable. Punishment for paying customers instead of punishment for crackers. We should force all copy protectors to take a lesson with Urs…
But maybe I am wrong and the suspicion comes by a former bad experience…

Yeah I was expecting such a check box, if there was one, to have been in CompanionTj Shredder wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:58 pm This check box alone is suspicious. Good to know, in the past I had my rack v11 license being rejected once and only recently upgraded to 12…Jac459 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 2:22 pmYou are indeed 100% wrong.Tj Shredder wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:58 pm But maybe I am wrong and the suspicion comes by a former bad experience…

Yes, it was a bit of an issue and they recognised it and worked on it.Tj Shredder wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:33 pmGood to know, in the past I had my rack v11 license being rejected once and only recently upgraded to 12…Jac459 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 2:22 pmYou are indeed 100% wrong.Tj Shredder wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:58 pm But maybe I am wrong and the suspicion comes by a former bad experience…

Finally, with the recent releases, we can fairly say that reason 12 is now at the exact perfect state we were dreaming of seeing it when it was first released.
Now, they have objectively taken a bit too long to do that in the mind of many people.
The question I ask myself is if for reason 13:
- they will still try to improve every side of their software or if
- they will concentrate on the DAW as requested by many die hard users or if
- they will concentrate on the RRP as many users (like me) have moved to this way of using reason.

I just ran up against this issue today. Had a rack with Redrum triggering the gate of a Subtractor but had notes feeding in from the piano roll. Because it's all one midi channel, those notes were muting the Redrum parts. I could have them running on separate instances but then I wouldn't have a way of setting up the triggers. Kinda wish I hadn't updated from v8...pandashake wrote: Mon Oct 09, 2023 12:26 pm Yeah, but does the rack vst have multitimbral midi yet? No? Okay, pass.

Could be totally completely wrong here, but would you be able to set that up in a Combinator to work the way you want? Receiving on separate midi channels or with a keyboard split perhaps?
Or are there no Combinators in RRP? I'm not a user.

"note filter to isolate or remove notes based on user defined ranges" +
"pitch shifter to shift the pitch of all or selected ranges of incoming notes"
work well together

The combinator is the only work around I’ve found other than just using more than one instance of rack, but it’s a huge pain to set up and make changes to. It’s in no way easier than using rewire of old. Rack should be able to handle multiple midi inputs and multiple audio outputs ala Kontakt in order to be really useful and better than what the Props gave us from the getgo with Rewire.

Totally agree, the rack should be multi-timbral. In fact every instance of the Sampler should be multi-timbral, and each Combinator too. Those sorts of improvements would make me look at Reason seriously again, but as it is now it's really just a sound design platform imo.

I wonder if the ideal solution is to allow several RRP plugins to be "views" (of a few audio / midi ports) on a single rack in the background. Would allow much more rewire-like routing...
