I got exactly the same reply (word for word).plexuss wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 2:44 pm Here's what SB wrote back to me on thsi issue. I emailed them back suggesting that if so many customers are complaining about the prices, their rationale is irrelevant. No matter. Lots of other plugisn and plugins like Effectrix out there so no need for me to spend $80US.
I also let them know if they switched to subscription they will have lost me as a customer completely.
We are sorry that the price feels too high for you, but please understand that Effectrix2 is a complete new development. We created it from scratch, all effects were rewritten and we have
put maximum effort into every aspect of it. As we decided not to follow the trend of subscriptions, we always need to find a reasonable price.
Best,
Your Sugar Bytes Team

If I were in Sugarbytes shoes right now, I would be doing damage control. I wouldn't be posting about justifying the price charged for the upgrade, I'd be making an effort to reach a compromise solution with loyal customers where everybody wins - recognising that customers want to upgrade but balk at the price suggested. Clearly the win-win solution is to lower the upgrade price and issue a full throated apology, making virtue of how proud they are of the new product and how much work was put into it - but clearly the upgrade pricing wasn't appropriate, so they're trying to make amends.
There's no way they will do this though.

Effectrix (revolutionary in its day) was somewhat usurped by several other similar products, the problem in my opinion is Effectrix2 just catches up with programs like Infiltrator 2 (that are under 100 full program).
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Yes it pass lol but i'm sure it was made considering upcoming sale, where it will 49 i believe (upgrade). So I guess it's not that bad.
But, actually would be good to see list of changes (except UI), new fx's ?
(Need say, i liked old UI more, but the influence of the resize is inevitable, apparently nothing can be done about it.)

I find myself using the Devious Machines Infiltrator 2 more then the Effectrix. At this price, even though I do like the updates to the Effectrix (even the ability to change colors!!) I'm skipping the update.damoog wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 4:57 pm just demoed effectrix 2 and I am impressed ,I don't usually buy glitch plug ins but I'm in the market ?,your advise on the competition would be appreciated ,cheers

Not only is Sugar Bytes pricing strategy failing but it's also driving people to their competition. Maybe they need to change their name from Sugar Bytes to Sugar Sucks... sad. sad.

Infiltrator 2 is my favourite, but you can also get 'Glitch 2' for $49 and it seems very like Effectrix (I haven't tried it) https://illformed.com/damoog wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 4:57 pm just demoed effectrix 2 and I am impressed ,I don't usually buy glitch plug ins but I'm in the market ?,your advise on the competition would be appreciated ,cheers

Well the price of Effectrix 2 is what made me post any alternatives cheaper right on this thread and one of you mentioned stutter edit 2 (for £12!) which made me instantly buy it at that price ,so sugarbytes charging that much might actually do the competition(s) good
