With the launch of the Yamaha Montage M, Yamaha is introducing a complete recreation of the Montage in a standalone plugin form.

Note the image below taken from the below link - Yamaha states "without the hardware".

Complete with all 3 engines - AWM2, FMX and ANX.
It will be free for Montage M owners.

We're yet to hear IF it will be offered to non Montage owners and what type of subscription model or one off buyout fee they will offer.

Finally they will compete with Roland and Korg in the software realm.

Can't wait to have it. I used to own a Montage. This will be my go to plugin for great many things.

Woah! I'm in if it's not subscription, priced like Omnisphere, or infected with iLok.

Will be keeping an eye on this.....

Finally an AN1X in VST form

I'm very interested in this... I just hope the copy protection isn't too system intrusive or online/subscription only. I just had a bad situation that left a couple of programs unworkable since my main PC was offline for about 2 weeks... :o

Completely agree! If it's not saddled with Draconian pricing or sucky copy-protection crap, I'll eat top ramen and hot dogs to buy this...

I honestly don't have a lot of hope for that, though.

I'd go for a rack version with less hesitation!

Yes I'm afraid my conditions of purchase are going to be hard to meet but I'll keep up hope until we learn more.

I don't see where t says it will be a standalone plugin though... but I hope it's true.

"Bundled license of Softsynth features MONTAGE M Synthesis Engine
MONTAGE M series keyboards come with a download code for the Expanded Softsynth Plugin (E.S.P.) for MONTAGE M, which is a software synthesizer (VST3, AU) that can replicate all MONTAGE M series sounds, offering more powerful stage and studio integration.

We are planning on releasing E.S.P. in early 2024. The first version will have MONTAGE M sound, while being limited to basic editing. The full version is planned for release in summer 2024."

Yamaha have before limited their plugins to owners of the hardware version, so I would not be surprised if Montage M owners are the only ones who get the plugin.

It would make sense to me that Yamaha would like to capitalize on current market trends of the competition. This is a huge opportunity and a huge market especially when it's subscription based, or a rather steep entry price of say $499.

Otherwise they would just offer a connected VST editor.

The fact they state "without the hardware" basically mean standalone, to me.

I hope it's gonna be a standalone vst, otherwise...nothing really special about it, it will be just a vst editor like they had for the moxf series.
