Minimal Audio Current…subscription

I guarantee this will be a very short-lived subscription. No one in their right mind would subscribe and pay monthly for a synth and some 'new' presets. Not when you could get other subs that offer 10 times the value, like Slate Digital, Roland or PA. LOL
Not that I subscribe to anyone, ever. But just comparing value for money.

Remember paying for Pigments' big update?billinder33 wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 4:49 pmWill there really be a "BIG UPDATE!!!" when their subscriber count lands somewhere in the two-digit range?
I've loved Minimal up until this point, but this will probably scare me away from future purchases, subscription or not.
Remember subscribing to Pigments?
Me neither.

Subscription only synth? ... Lol, pass!
And that's coming from one of their existing customers who owns all of their current effect products. But, I'm not surprised Minimal Audio tried to pull this ridiculous move.
For the longest time, the only bundle they offered, was the dumb "Everything" bundle, which would have forced customers to also buy all their "sample packs", whether we wanted them or not.
Only recently, did they relent to demand and also introduce an 'all effects bundle', which at least allowed customers to purchase all their effect plugins, without also having to have their sample packs bundled in (Minimal Audio held out for the longest time on that though).
So for sure, a company with that type of mentality (pushing sample packs and subscriptions thereof), would eventually also try to force a 'subscription only' model for their synth.
Bad move, Minimal Audio. You've just become a bit of a laughing stock!

'Current' ... is such a strange name for a synth.
Especially, for one which has clearly missed the 'current' feelings towards 'subscription only' payment models.
'Cluster Delay' was their previous product release. Perhaps, they should have titled this one 'ClusterF***" instead!

The synth itself looks very nice, but I just don't want to invest in a synth that has a hard expiration date unless you pay monthly for the privilage to keep using it.
A synth for me should be reliable in any situation, and a subscription just feels like a looming time bomb that requires a constant flow of users to keep operating the service.
It also means the preservation or editability of any projects using this synth is in jeopardy, which is extremely important to keep in mind.
I don't intend to be negative or pushy, but I just hope these are points that I hope will be considered.

I imagine they mean "Current" as in "electrical current".

Depends on the mistake, of course. This mistake was firmly grounded in thinking they would get away with it, as they would have been fully aware of recent backlashes against subscription models. Rather than an "oops, I didn't mean to do that" kind of mistake.vertibration wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 2:02 pm Are yall serious? Trust.....Is Minimal Audio your girlfriend? For gods sake....You know companies are allowed to make mistakes and fix those mistakes right? Dont be drama queens

Well, then it turns out, it also had an unintended double meaning.
The 'current' YouTube like/dislike ratio on their announcement video...
