I want to apologize for that tweet about pricing, it was in direct response to a discussion -- and it was an expression, not an MSRP for Current, or an official stance. We are obviously unable to respond to every comment and are aware some people are extremely disappointed. We are not "doubling down" -- but Current as of right now, is directly tied to the Stream, unlimited downloads, and no restrictions over any of our products be it perpetual or subscription. We cannot change that so quickly and after years of working on this, we're proud of what we've launched today. We will continue to hear you out and evaluate in the future. I hope you'll give us the benefit of the doubt that we will continue to release amazing products.
You guys really dropped the ball on this one I'm afraid. KVR is one of the more colourful places online wrt music production software, but the sub only model with quite high pricing really; an extra $10/month gets you the entire UVI catalogue for example, hasn't been well received on your marketing partners YT videos either and YT, in my experience at least, tends to be more balanced. And talking of said partners, you didn't do yourself any favours by waiting until after they had already created their content before breaking the news that it would be sub only. Do you think they will want to work with you again after pulling a stunt like that?

I don't mean to be rude, but were you guys living under a rock when Waves and or Bitwig tried to go sub only and change the terms of their upgrade plan, respectively? It did not go well for either of those companies and they both backtracked pretty much immediately thereafter. What makes you think you won't suffer the same fate, might I ask?

We get that developing software costs money and that running business is hard, but making the exact same mistakes that larger bigger and more established developers already made and suffered from, just seems a really, really bad move and has many of us, including your existing customers, baffled and also concerned about the future of the company.

Please think hard about what you are doing here.

If they have Minimal Ego there is some possibility… so far no sign of it.

Just sell the synth, and offer an all in subscription model. Why keep the pain train in motion like this? Lol
Unfortunately it's not easy to build this immense architecture, and then at the same time, build our split offering which separate the synth vs stream.

I have to attend to a lot of stuff today, but I leave it with this. We just as an incredibly small and indie company, built a product which competes or is greater than $50M - $100M company products in my opinion. It is extremely painful to wake up and read abuse here and even in my personal DMs, wishing for myself to starve and fail, over a product which yesterday, no one even owned.

As I said, we're going to be continuing to add a ton of value to Current, we have current 4 more unreleased effects, a lot more content, as well as plans for more sound engines. -- I understand that not everyone is interested in the content side, and would prefer for the regular update system. -- But what seems to be completely brushed over is the product itself. I really think you should try it -- it is different than the other synths on the market, the sound quality is un-matched, content, and UX is unmatched.

This.
Sub means a hard pass for me, I don't care how good the synth is.

What i dont understand: This isnt the 1st time this happened. Were you guys busy coding all day when the waves subscription thing happened? You got the exact same response than they did. They corrected their mistake or people would have boycotted them until now.

I understand that completely, and I realize it took a tremendous amount of time to develop the architecture and the synth itself. I don't like "jumping on the bandwagon" of subscription hate and bringing negativity to your company. That doesn't benefit anyone.

But I'm just very surprised that during the development process you didn't consider the possibility of altering or making the architecture in a way that allowed for a dual system of subscription and permanent licensing. You had to have seen that a pure subscription based system with single instruments was very frowned upon.

Having said that, I wish you and your fellow developers well as you're going to feel a lot of negativity and that can very easily drag down the morale of everyone.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure voodoo is not a real thing. And I'm also pretty sure the ratio of messages wishing you to starve and die, compared to the ones where people are simply expressing sincere disappointment in your execution of this launch strategy, is rather heavily leaning towards the latter. Maybe focus your emotions towards those ones instead.
Until forever fades away.
