Unity, waves, ocean gate, anything sub related implodes quickly recently.

I want you to comment on the comment you made:Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:17 pmUnfortunately it's not easy to build this immense architecture, and then at the same time, build our split offering which separate the synth vs stream.vertibration wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:49 pmJust sell the synth, and offer an all in subscription model. Why keep the pain train in motion like this? LolMinimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:46 pm Hey everyone, just want to share that we are aware of this thread as painful as it is to read. I want to apologize for that tweet about pricing, it was in direct response to a discussion -- and it was an expression, not an MSRP for Current, or an official stance. We are obviously unable to respond to every comment and are aware some people are extremely disappointed. We are not "doubling down" -- but Current as of right now, is directly tied to the Stream, unlimited downloads, and no restrictions over any of our products be it perpetual or subscription. We cannot change that so quickly and after years of working on this, we're proud of what we've launched today. We will continue to hear you out and evaluate in the future. I hope you'll give us the benefit of the doubt that we will continue to release amazing products.
I have to attend to a lot of stuff today, but I leave it with this. We just as an incredibly small and indie company, built a product which competes or is greater than $50M - $100M company products in my opinion. It is extremely painful to wake up and read abuse here and even in my personal DMs, wishing for myself to starve and fail, over a product which yesterday, no one even owned.
As I said, we're going to be continuing to add a ton of value to Current, we have current 4 more unreleased effects, a lot more content, as well as plans for more sound engines. -- I understand that not everyone is interested in the content side, and would prefer for the regular update system. -- But what seems to be completely brushed over is the product itself. I really think you should try it -- it is different than the other synths on the market, the sound quality is un-matched, content, and UX is unmatched.
Alright, now please continue to make me want to die lol.
That there was always a plan to LOCK US IN with your fx plugins and then release SUBSCRIPTION only synth to MILK us DRY !!!!! What type of company are you? A bunch of RIP OFF artists!!!!!

Why not take the Komplete/Musio 1 route?Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:46 pm

It's almost the same as "Current" model.
Price it like 200 bucks and release yearly a new
paid update with new content (synthesis types, effects, sounds, wavetables, preset packs, etc.)
This model, will guarantee sustainability for your business and maintain "The Stream" service running.
Having said that, I think it's a Win-Win because everyone will keep the synth with the content they paid for and will encourage people to upgrade to the new version to get the new features.

I am somewhat confused by this- The whole Stream stuff seems like it's tailored for preset pushers, yet Currents is clearly a complex synth more geared (arguably) for power users. The former likely won't utilize the potential of the synth and the latter tend to be less interested in FOTM presets.

Kilohearts also go the pay - pay for new effects route. The thing with subs is always they add up... and some companies get lazy when the money comes and the customer is f....d because he made certain jobs with it and can't do without. The argument with power users is true too. I think I have synths where I never even used a single preset as I love to tweak, so no use for stream.

The still unbelievable aspect of this catastrophic launch is the inability of self awareness and the lack of necessary skills to quickly minimize (no pun intended) the long term damage this strategy in bound to inflict on their business.
I guess lessons will be learned the hard way and unnecessarily.
Sad story.

I don't think anyone wants you to die, at least I've not seen anything at all with that sort of vibe on this board. You seem to missing that people are trying to help you guys. Everyone seems to agree that you make good stuff, that's not the issue. People will simply not go for subscription, and it won't go well for you. Nobody wants that. People want to use your products. But you are pushing them to not use them because sub is an absolute no-go for a plugin for most of us. Like not ever, no matter what. There is nothing you could say to make that acceptable. doesn't matter who you compete with, or how great the synth is. So the end result is lost sales. We do not wish that for you. We wish to pay you money to buy it!Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:17 pmUnfortunately it's not easy to build this immense architecture, and then at the same time, build our split offering which separate the synth vs stream.vertibration wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:49 pmJust sell the synth, and offer an all in subscription model. Oh and we understand that you couldn't just build in the separation of ownership and subscription over night, but for the interest of sales, you might want to start building that.
The synth sounds and looks great by the way.

Totally agreed - this company has just shown its true colors.martiu wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 8:03 pm Actually no transfer policy and the fact that subscription was the plan in the first place means they are not getting money from me ever.
I will not support this company again - even if they offer the perpetual license in the future.

...is the extent of drama that people have reached in their reactions here. People are acting like Minimal Audio betrayed them somehow and can no longer be trusted. It's frankly ridiculous.
Don't like the subscription thing? Don't subscribe. But you don't have to get super angry about it and boycott the company forever

Honestly I'm feeling bad for the devs who are obviously very proud of their work and getting smashed on all forums and social media channels, but holy shit it was SO obvious this was going to happen
Also, trying to justify it by saying "the sound quality is un-matched" doesn't help either
Sleep on it, regroup, and best of luck for the next few days/weeks

I think the problem is you are expecting everyone here to just be sound consumers, happy to get new sound packs every month, but a lot of people here roll their own sounds and take pride in being able to do that - that is really what synths are supposed to be for after all, so tying the sub to the Stream isn't impressing anyone. You have made what appears to be a great synth for sound design, so why would anyone be interested in being hand fed sounds from the stream if they want to use it as a sound designer's dream synth? This approach really seems to be full of contradictions.Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:46 pm Hey everyone, just want to share that we are aware of this thread as painful as it is to read.
