This is a screen cap of the manual, of this mode, when you press both the sequencer and arpeggiator buttons down.
Each step can play anywhere from 1 to 6 notes. So chords and typical arp lines can be combined
I always come up with interesting lines and textures using this

Is there a software or VST version of this kind of combined sequencer and arpeggiator workflow?
Sadly Pigments doesn't have this type of thing, which you think would be logical...
BlueARP looks to be similar, but it's not quite the same in practise

And example sound from the Polybrute - I'm holding down 4 notes here
https://soundcloud.com/coolcolj/polybru ... ix-arp-seq

And the patch itself, you can see some slides on top row
Row C is the steps themsleves, wether it's on or off
3 note chord on second step with the 3 vertical blue buttons, using voices 4/5/6, but since I'm only holding 4 notes, only the 4th note will be used. And the same applies with less than 4 notes held
and octave shifts on the bottom few buttons

Very interesting, I’ll have to try that on my PolyBrute sometime. As for software that can do that, have you looked at Xfer Cthulhu? I’m actually not terribly familiar with it, but it does seem to combine arpeggios with step sequences, so could potentially be a software alternative?

I've tried just about all the commonly known options, including Cthlhu.
While you can choose specific notes, you can't play more than one in arp mode. And when in chord mode you can't play single note arps :/

Blue Arp is almost there, but not quite.

I use Reaper so no Max4Live for me

It's almost like a polyphonic TB-303 sequencer, with accent, slide and octave shifts, but being able to hold down your own notes in real time like an Arp, with programmable note order.

Maybe you can create something like this in a modular app like Loomer Architect or something similar
Have to try the demo out

Right now this Matrix Arp mode is a bit bugged in Polybrute since the new V3 firmware landed.
It will play the highest note of a step in unison for more than one voice, if the number of notes held is under the voice number allocated.
Here is a recording of this - same patch as above
On first two bars, I hold down 3 notes, then 4, 5 and 6 for the last few bars
You can hear how on the second step, the highest note held, being played by 3 voices in unison until I hold down 6 notes

I think Stepic could do it, but takes 10x the effort, compared to simplicty of the Polybrute of holding down notes, latch, convert to sequence, then press down both Arp and Seq buttons to turn on Matrix Arp mode.
Press matrix buttons to fine tune the combo Arp/Sequence, and done.

I modified the patch with two chords added into the pattern, added noise filter FM, and VCO filter FM.
Ahhh blisss......

Right, I’m still waiting for Arturia to bring us a native Vst version of their brutes with a proper sequencer. It’d sell like hotcakes! The ease in how fast the sequencer works in the matrix or polybrute is needed badly in the Vst world.
