I'm not mad though. I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Pretty harsh thread. Kinda feel bad for these devs, but yeah, terrible idea.

After this replay I would say that on principle I wouldn't even want current for freeZoopy wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 4:18 am nice double down response from minimal audio![]()

Yesterday night I gave a shot to the “demo”.
Nice synth but as a lot of people said before, you can do pretty much the same with pigments 4. Maybe just better graphic I have to admit.

You call this Company NOT DEVIOUS!!!!!neverbefore wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 11:17 pmdefinitely not devious - I have no problems with Minimal wanting to go subscription with this product - that's a business decision which may be great for them or not. Not worth it for me but if they come out with another great effect I'll be more than happy to buy and add it to the other ones of theirs I own.foosnark wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 11:00 pmFeel free to spend money where you see fit, of course, but there is absolutely no "devious policy" here. There's no bait-and-switch, there's no dishonesty, they're not exploiting you, they're not holding your computer hostage, etc. They're just asking for a subscription when it's been made pretty clear that a lot of the community really, really dislikes subscriptions.Robmobius wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 10:41 pm I see nothing wrong with boycotting a company for the foreseeable future while they have such a devious policy.![]()
It seems like an unwise business decision to me, but it's not "devious."
They are a bunch of CON ARTISTS, who had a plan all a long to lock us in with FX plugins and then want us to shell out cash every month for their subscription synth!!!
Even that Jake guy said it was ALWAYS their plan to catch us with the SUBSCRIPTION synth!!!
They are DEVIOUS when they don't inform YouTube reviewers that it is ONLY SUBSCRIPTION!!!
They are DEVIOUS when in the small print, they do NOT allow resales of their plugins!!

Dude, calm down. No need to act this fed up about a plugin company and their decision making.

Just to rewind a few pages...sounds like you have to subscribe to trial the free demo? Is that right?
I mean, these guys are serial self-harmers if this is the case. Aside from unreasonable online abuse (no excuse for that) it is all utterly predictable and all self-inflicted. How To Fail 101 by the book, by the letter. A roomful of people actually sat down and planned this and all along agreed this is how to be successful...WTF?
It's painful and it's sad, but they're going to have to eat a lot of public shit and humblebegging to put themselves back on the viable list.

From an outside perspective, it's hard not see this as seriously delusional. Not the best way to address people's concerns perhaps.............Zoopy wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 4:18 am nice double down response from minimal audio![]()

Is this, like, a technical claim? Or just a vibe? Because the quality of wavetable interpolation, parameter modulation etc. on the main competitors seems very good already.Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:17 pm -- But what seems to be completely brushed over is the product itself. I really think you should try it -- it is different than the other synths on the market, the sound quality is un-matched, content, and UX is unmatched.

I'm confused by the point about standalone product that will be available inside Current, so are they saying the sub does include the effects now too?Zoopy wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 4:18 am nice double down response from minimal audio![]()

the whole sound quality thing is just marketing - which I hate - whatever anyone makes can be claimed as superb for giving the sound that it makes - if there is aliasing that is just part of what they do to make it as superb as it is etc etcimrae wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 8:18 amIs this, like, a technical claim? Oh hell no.
Does minimal allow license transfers for their perpetual products? Asking for a friend.

Dear developer, you're missing something extremely crucial here that is clouding your judgement in terms of how you're relating to these responses.
It's not about your synthesizer as much as it is about the subscription model. To demonstrate what I mean;
Me, and most other people, hate subscription models. The last thing on earth that we want is to normalize subscription models. Most of us feel very lucky that we didn't end up with similar situation as people who have to rely on Adobe products, for example.
Now, if I were to buy your subscription, what is the signal we give to other companies? "Huh, this company can get away with a subscription model... maybe... just maybe?"
That's really all there is to it. Your synthesizer could be the best thing there is right now, but buying that subscription is going to only work against my, and any other musicians (who buys these products) interests, because of the possible consequences that can go further than this specific synthesizer or this specific subscription.
It's sad that you're getting death threats and so on - I don't support any of that. But I do reckon that you need to understand that it's precisely that kind of furor that people feel when they start thinking about how someone (in this case you) is trying to normalize subscription models. What you're doing right now is perceived as a much larger thing than you seem to really even acknowledge yourself.
