I’m be said it before, I think in this thread. Sale price is the real price and race-to-the-bottom sales pricing is a strategy that only a very few companies will be able to succeed at. TAL can’t, and he did what he did as an emergency stop on the devaluation of his work.

But he apparently didn´t consider it necessary to inform the people who made the purchase at AD, provide any updates or even issue an official statement. He has access to this forum and has provided support in the past but has not responded to any questions or concerns about the issue, with the exception of a few emails sent to individual users who have asked for an update. This has led to a lot of complaints and frustration from the buyers . I can't explain otherwise why so many people are pissed off and this thread has escalated.perpetual3 wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:54 am I’m be said it before, I think in this thread. I might be wrong though, just my observations..

You don't know how often he reads kvr do you?
I have often reported via email issues people mention here and he is seeing it for the first time when I send the email to him.
I strongly suspect he doesn't read kvr that often. Though I grant you that someone may have emailed him to alert him of the turn of this thread on kvr.

I can assure you, most of that he didn't lose.equisonus wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 9:32 am Spinning such tales or not, at the end of the day TAL lost a hundred or so potential customers and a distributor network and also lost face. But of course it’s his business - his decision.
Just one network, which was gonna take advantage of them, treating TAL like a maker of mediocre products with short support cycle, unfriendly license system and inflated prices

Regardless of UAD, TAL is not. Along with u-he or Spectrasonics, or XFER (Serum)equisonus wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 9:58 am What’s not constantly on sale these days. Also 75% discounts for audio software are the new normal. Just see UAD…

He provided his statement via Twitter. He is honoring the licenses that were sold.

By the way, for those who "honor" the "honored the deal" thing: That's all neat and stuff, but, that's a pretty one dimensional customer view. Fact is that Patrick has to do support work for $13 licenses now, and probably doesn't earn a single Euro on any of this. Not blaming people for that, just to put it into perspective. Pretty bad situation for him, but, misunderstandings can happen.

Agreed. But the good news are:chk071 wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 12:02 pm In retrospect, I can't believe how much shit this thing stirred up.
But, hey, that's the nature of forums, and also social media.
1 - there are a lot of drama queens upset and that is always a good thing.
2 - TAL just lost a handful of problematic customers, the toxic ones hoping to get 100 USD product for 10 USD regardless of the other party losing money. I think it is a good news for TAL and I am happy for this great developer.

It's absolutely beyond me how someone can choose to not buy from TAL anymore because of this. That's, sorry, utterly stupid. Especially as it was so well communicated what happened.

I don't blame TAL for any of this, however I am choosing to no longer use his products because I think he failed to reach out and communicate to those who were affected, it was all just left to unravel for nearly a week.
Literally untrue, no one knew what was going on.It's absolutely beyond me how someone can choose to not buy from TAL anymore because of this. That's, sorry, utterly stupid. Especially as it was so well communicated what happened.
