You'd think the brand and marketing folks could step in, but silence from them too! Nothing from their crisis management folks either! Maybe we should get regulators involved.

It's funny, because when I saw that deal, I thought, "that can't be right, I'm going to hold off until I'm sure it's real". Not that I was questioning AD as a company (I've bought from them before), but it a) seemed like an error from the start to me, and b) I figured, it'll be there in a few days if it is confirmed legit and I'll buy then. As soon as licenses stopped being issued upon purchase, I was near certain it was an error and that sales would not be honored.

Obviously, I should have bought in at that point. Then I could talk about how much my feelings are hurt and demand a public apology.

Agreed. But the good news are:
1 - there are a lot of drama queens upset and that is always a good thing. 😄
2 - TAL just lost a handful of problematic customers, the toxic ones hoping to get 100 USD product for 10 USD regardless of the other party losing money. I think it is a good news for TAL and I am happy for this great developer.
What exactly is the added value of this post other than being toxic?
I explained a few posts earlier my dear friend.

Somehow this is becoming more and more like an Apple vs Android discussion. Or a Playstation vs Xbox. Very childlike and including the associated behavior of fanboys.

How dare you speak of my TAL like that :D

Several letters? What a waste of time for nothing for TAL.

You are complaining that after paying $11 for a product which normally sells for $80( and imho very undervalued at $80... I think the more realistic price for what it does is at least $120) or $60 if you bought the tal-drum, you didn't get the product, got a refund but that the developer whom you didn't buy directly from, should have stopped his weekend to respond here....

I had no idea you were such a fanboy.

You wrote that a mistake was made - who made the mistake? Patrick says he misread an agreement himself.
Why doesn't he get off his high horse and write about this because only the AD issued a statement - which you didn't believe either, on this forum, see your earlier post that "Patrick's opinion is maybe different".

I wasn't going to post here at all, but post after post came in saying "I will never buy from AD again."
Why is that? What right does an indie developer have to discredit another company when it hasn't made a mistake? Why doesn't he speak up and admit he made a mistake?
Why does he give a shit about customers he doesn't even dignify enough to justify his actions?

No, I didn't ask him to apologise for myself, but for the hundreds of customers and businesses he has harmed.
And you see, you continue to defend the innocent guy who has been in hiding. And as I wrote in my very first post, if it was a big company you'd be demanding heads and costumer rights and lawyers etc...

Just my two cents, but I don't think TAL had any responsibility to inform people or communicate about this issue. Customers didn't buy anything from TAL, they bought from Audio Deluxe. The people waiting for their orders to be delivered were customers of Audio Deluxe, and it is AD's responsibility to keep them informed.

TAL deals with Audio Deluxe and their key distributor, and whatever happens between them is their business. Maybe their relationship has soured, maybe the worked it out, none of us really know. But the customer's relationship is with AD, which is the store they purchased from. I just don't think TAL has any obligation to publicly speak about this - their obligation is to the people they do business with, and it sounds like they've already talked to them. And AD's obligation is to keep the customers informed, and it sounds like they have.

who did he harm? everyone got refunds after a couple days (which as refunds go, is pretty standard/quick)

the people who feel entitled to more than just a refund (and are real loud about it on the internet) are probably the kind of people he doesn't want as lifelong customers anyway.

This one is better, iPhones, playstations or Xbox are expansive so it could be understandable to debate on the best purchase...

Here you are whining over and over again about 13USD... I love it! It is very fun to watch...

TAL has honoured 100% of the licences given to AD. AD sold licences they weren't having yet. Those are the ones TAL didn't accept. Fair.
