Very glad to hear this. Thanks Minimal Audio.
For what it's worth, I've been trying out Current, and from the few hours I've spent making my own sounds so far, I'm very impressed... While I haven't found any particular aspect totally groundbreaking, the feature set is very well thought out and as far as I'm concerned you seem to have successfully struck that sweet spot between allowing a lot of flexibility and options while still retaining a intuitive and inspiring workflow. I'd imagine it's going to be popular with a lot of sound designers and people who like to roll their own.
I can tell the time and attention to detail you've put in, and I can imagine how difficult the last few days must have been. Well done for listening and adapting so quickly. I hope Current is a big success for you.

The price seems perfectly reasonable, its similar to direct competitors like pigments, phaseplant. I even thought it would be a bit more expensive.burkek wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:34 pm UVI's much more expansive Falcon, at $244 right now with an additional $100 soundware coupon, is a much better deal. I think people were expecting $100-$150, but at $200 (which is $274 Canadian, ugh!) it's just too high, IMHO, for an unproven new-to-market synth launched during challenging economic times for consumers. But I wish you well.
I mean there are many effect plugins that have a similar price or even higher. Even Serum, soon 10 years old, is still 189$!!( i havent seen anyone complaining about that lol, shouldnt serum be like 20$ by now?).
So 200$ for this(synth only as of right now) is a really good price and not overpriced at all.
I cant say that for any other prices though, i guess they will still announce prices for upcoming effects inside current, etc

I think you did a better job explaining it than he did. (He keeps saying RTO in the video without ever saying it stands for Rent To Own.)noiseboyuk wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:20 pm So I think the basics are:
Subscription in its initial form gone
Synth perpetual $200 - but none of the extra content
Rent-to-own - monthly fee for all Minimal content, also giving you store credit to buy permanent licenses if you stop. (I think).
The RTO does seem pretty confusing, I guess they'll have full details written down at some point.
Kudos to Minimal for backing down so quickly, anyway.
There is still some fuzziness in the details but this is a huge step in the right direction. Good stuff Minimal!

I was holding off on buying Synplant 2 until I could get a look at Current.
If they had released this yesterday at $200 I would probably already own it. The demos look great. And having Rift, Morph, and Fuse bundled into a synth's FX section is huge for me, since I already frequently insert those units after some other synth. $200 is a very fair price for this feature set.
But I'll probably pull the trigger on Synplant for now and let the dust settle on this one. I don't have any issues that they released this as subscription only, though I certainly would never have purchased it as a sub. But that they intentionally hid that core detail from reviewers reeks of dishonesty and gives me pause on investing into Minimal products at this time.
Maybe I'll come back to this in a few months based on how the company handles things moving forward. Or not.

Kudos.Minimal Audio wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:10 pm Hey everyone —
Obviously yesterday we made a lot of mistakes. Here is our plan to correct them:
TLDR: killing subscription.
We welcome any feedback as we begin to move forward with this new plan.
All proposals seem perfectly reasonable and good job for owning up to mistakes.
We're all human!
PS. Any chance of a loyalty discount for those who own your effects!

We're all human? We're not talking about one silly mistake. We're talking about a bunch of calculated actions that were neglecting the best interests of the consumer on purpose. Hiding the subscription details from the reviewers, for example, is just inexcusable.kraster wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 11:34 pm Kudos.

Yep, it includes all the existing effects inside of Current's effect rack. Just to be clear, the audio engine (oscillators, modulators, effects, etc.) will be the same regardless of how you purchase Current. It's the huge library of content that we're going to separate out as "expansion packs", which we think makes sense because we got a lot of feedback from people saying they didn't want to have to pay for it. Hope that makes sense
EDIT: it is possible that we will release major updates that require an upgrade.

You weren't looking for it. I've thought Serem was overpriced since day one. $200 for almost any synth is not a "really good price." Knock yourself out, buy what you want, but compared to most of the market, it's an expensive synth. Whether it's overpriced or not depends on what you're willing to pay for.DizzlerMusic wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:58 pmThe price seems perfectly reasonable, its similar to direct competitors like pigments, phaseplant. These kinds of marketing mistakes will always leave a bad taste for many people for some period of time. I find perception to be a funny thing. People who might have had, literally, no opinion, may now distrust based on this move alone. Backpedaling is probably a good idea in this case, but the expectation that it will engender trust is naïve. What it indicates is that they didn't know what they were doing, or they did and they were hoping it would fly. Neither is a good look.

How are you going to handle the rollout of new FX?Minimal Audio wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:30 amYep, it includes all the effects inside of Current's effect rack and the other effects we're planning on adding to it. A lot at one time along with core synth features for a single larger upgrade price? Or frequently and priced as ala carte add-ons like Kilohertz?
And if ala carte, would one price cover both in-synth and standalone VST?

Respect to the way you’re dealing with this.
