Yeah their plugin scan is a real disaster - I have every time to shut down hanged up scanner from task manger and it wants to scan these plugins every time again. Since vst3 they have raised the ballnoiseboyuk wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:40 amDon't quite agree there, In fact I think KK3 is the single worst product NI have ever released. It's functionally useless here, it hangs on a plugin scan and can't load any plugins afterwards. I can play with the browser, however, and see just how crippled it is.Fornicras wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 5:43 am Tried Komplete Kontrol App V3. It's better than the previous version but it still isn't that great, scaling is all over the place and it still doesn't look like it belongs to 2023. It's definitely more usable but I think I expected more.
In 1.x and 2.x you could use a registry hack to resize that worked okay, so you could see more than 2 results. That hack no longer works, and it's been replaced by Kontakt 7's browser which they actively crippled to remove the ability to resize.
The mind boggles.
They don't need to do too much to make it useable, but after 10-some years I'm not holding my breath. They need to:
1. Fix plugin scanning so it can step over any problem plugins.
2. Make the browser window resizeable.
3. Add Reaktor as a tag host, so you can search all the Reaktor synths in a single hit, making up for the lack of a browser in Reaktor itself.
There's probably more than needs doing but since it doesn't work here that's as far as I've got.

Are you guys saying the scan is even worse than with Maschine? I wonder if NI have outsourced their entire coding department. EvilDragonPerson. Do you know anything about that?

It’s the same scanapp that crashes or scans some plugins on ever startup again, like some isotope et.DrGonzo wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:08 pm Are you guys saying the scan is even worse than with Maschine? Kore2 was also hanging long time ago, but as more plugins you get in these years, so more issues has the scan.
That’s the reason I have abandoned Komplete Kontrol and use an older version of Maschine 2 from 2022 without scanning for newer plugins or nks

Thing is with the scanning, most apps keep a log so if a plugin crashes, it knows to avoid it on the next scan. Pretty crude, but works. Not NI, you're stuck in an eternal loop.
I couldn't use KK3 even if I wanted to. Which I don't.

Looks like Komplete Kontrol 3 is working great then
KK2 was junk, I fired it up once or twice but I found it a really painful user experience. Tbh I always use Maschine to browse or control NKS stuff, I’ll give KK3 a try later and see how bad it is

Komplete Kontrol is a social experiment invented by Native Instruments to suck the joy out of making music. I swear the last time I installed it I spiralled into a depression I am only just now coming out of now. Install it at your peril......

So we are past the "sad" state and are now into full "depression" state. NI has totally lost it.

No problems with scanning here. Opened it up in standalone and did a long scan and when I open it in a daw as a plugin it loads right away. Overall seems to work OK.
One thing I don't see anymore is how it used to be able to be grouped and sorted by synths and sampled instruments, or by vendor, when looking at all libraries.

? I can still select a single manufacturer or instrument and search by type and characteristics.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 9:55 pm No problems with scanning here. My only complaint with Komplete Control is it might be responsible for crashing DP11 here.

Yeah actually I can do brand, which seems to be the new vendor, but I mean for libraries it seems there is no more grouping by synth, sampled instruments. Only all the types by preset. Not a big deal.machinesworking wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 4:11 am? Honestly they've always been to sparse with their tags, I would rather remove tags to get more choices than sort through 549 bass, synth, dark sounds. When you ad another "character" category with NI (only on the software holding down a modifier key, not in the hardware, because?) you get MORE presets not less, opposite of every other sounds search feature ever devised.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 5:05 am Yeah actually I can do brand, which seems to be the new vendor, but I mean for libraries it seems there is no more grouping by synth, sampled instruments. Seriously, I do not understand the shit logic of this?

Has anyone noticed weirdness with the latest Komplete Kontrol software in terms of sometimes previews not being there, or the images not being there? I've installed a bunch of stuff lately on a new computer and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, but some images just aren't there. I check another computer and I see the images folder with those products and sure enough they are missing in the new one. Just didn't get installed. I guess I could manually copy them over. But there's also lots of things that don't have previews and on my older computer there are previews. Can't locate all of them though since sometimes when you open a preset in the browser the previews aren't there alongside it, while sometimes they are. I also have I just noticed some previews not working on my old computer. But less than the new one. Reinstalls don't seem to help (though maybe they would for third party haven't checked). I don't know, it's all wonky.
