exactly WHAT effects does reason 2.5 come with?

not even the bloody reason 3 beta crashes. except after 20 minutes of using it. they make people betatest the damn v3 demo (no saving, shuts down after 20 mins).

it doesn´t crash...true
about the fx available in reason... well they are basic but can be connected / chained etc. so it´s basically up to you what you can come up with within reasons framework.
e.g. you could split a signal into different frequencies and process each frequency range with different effects...

you gotta set a stereo delay up from 2 mono delay units. combinator comes in handy there.. I already made me a fine reverb+stereo delay effect unit with that. Only downside - the beta wont let me save it O_o
Anyway.. plenty FX capabilities in reason, and with v3 you'll be able to save a lot of time cuz you dont have to do the basic wiring all over again every time.

If you want more opinions I would suggest

and sorry 'bout VW, figured out it's not essential for me atm.

You have to separate the sequencer from the Rack. I don't have Reason in front of me, and I can't believe I don't recall off my head how to separate them. My mind just does it automatic now. The manual tells you how to do it.ttoz wrote:theres no way to expand the screen full on my 19"???
The RV7000 is also a delay unit. But, like Raven said, you can build whatever you want. And with CV controls, you can really get creative.ttoz wrote: and what about a delay? is that shitty little one included it????
If you're looking for 50 different individual effect modules, then you won't like Reason. If you want to make 50 of your own, then I think Reason is worth a look, and if you are really interested in making your own amazing sounding effects contraptions, then you'll love Reason 3.0's combinator. You can do frequency dependant delays with different effects on those frequency ranges, sweep those frequencies with CV or automation, etc. And then you can save those in a combinator preset.ttoz wrote: i like the workflow aspect but it needs some more fx that's for sure.
In Reason, I stopped thinking about what I can only do with one module, and realized what I can do with all of them.

no, I mentioned this @ v.1 and the word was it would take a major rebuild to do that.
locked bitmaps, that is the main (reason) I got rid of it before, I had a 21" screen and it looked pathetic stuck down in the left hand corner.
only now I have a laptop I got it again (mainly to use while my new studio is being built)
it is the one thing that BUGGED me, the rack is locked at 800x600 ... same as rebirth.

I see your point. Not just that, but the rack gets out of hand pretty dang quick! Someone else on the boards always points this out and its definitely valid.topaz wrote:no, I mentioned this @ v.1 and the word was it would take a major rebuild to do that.

What I find is that the reason my rack gets so massive and unweildy is just making the "modules". To make a superphat supersynth with waycool effects, it takes a lot of modules which eats up screen real estate and increases scroll time.
With 3.0, the combinator is basically where I will be putting all of those modules and then I can minimize then entire thing with one button and control most of my parameters from the knobs, buttons and wheels at the top of the combinator! This really is going to help out alot.

Ok.. lets take this calmly.
You know how Doepfer do that whole modular rack thing where you buy components, you string them together to create complex loops and signal routing.
Then you can have it all modulating each other into chaotic madness if you wish, or you can have a phat pad sound, or you can have it make drum noises.
Well Reason is like that.
Don't expect to load up a Malstrom, route it into a delay unit, and then route that into a mixer, and have something that rivals Absynth or M42.
It doesn't work that way.
You have to WORK for a sound, and with your recent news ttoz, I wouldn't recommend Reason. Soley for the purpose that you need to be able to work on your sound, and if you don't feel you're capable of that, then you're going to be disapointed with Reason, and you'll add yet more bogus information about how Reason sucks to the forums.
