not to throw in salt in the wound but now people are happy. yeah what choice did they have to switch back? guess there was too much backlash. still i think they calculated it and they obviously released it consciously with they model in mind, why didnt they tell it before the content creators and so on. i would be careful to pay money for current and dont get disappointed in future. maybe they will move to a better direction but then they should show more customer friendly steps like removing to sell NFR licenses.
but to believe they now understood and blabla bla is too early, they just did this move cause of all the backlash, that im pretty sure, nothing more. why could they switch asap then...

i´m sorry to say, but i think the pricing for "right now" is just too high.
Its not a clever strategy. (i claim that)
Fact is: Phaseplant, as well as Pigments are to be had for $99, several times the year.
And these are right now proven and well developed products.
It would be risky, thats true, but the "initial price" should have been $149.- at max.
Better: $99.- for right now, => for a very limited period of time.
MA could create this way -right now- way more income ( i claim that)
and would have a way wider userbase from begin on.
A userbase with a more positiv feel, giving feedback in forums and social media. Hyping it.
It would add up in PR.
Plus with the NFR fact,....it looks still quite off. Not much understanding for the market from the side of the developer.
So and so much money just flows into this market from folks "who not really need to have it".
For that sort of money, is $200.- just too high for most of us.
you´ll lose lots of "that sort of money" running that price. (i claim that)
....and "we" lose "that next fun toy to tinker with".
Your choice.
in short: i think a way lower "initial price" => _for a short amount of time_ would just add up for both parties. win-win

The granular part, I have to admit, is great.

I'm glad they admitted their error and are going to change the model because all that stuff aside, this has the spec of an exciting synth.
I wonder if they allow 3rd party soundbanks?

The synth itself looks and sounds great.
I won’t be buying it for one reason, it’s NFR.
For $200, I expect to be able to sell the license if I end up not using it.

I think its really a sick synth. The granular section is awesome, and their content stream is pretty good. Easy to tweak and make your own presets. Im going to do the rent to own, worth it for me. I have Serum, Pigments and while both are great.....I find Current to be a bit of an upgrade in terms of UI and effects. Mod system is well laid out, effects are incredible (obviously). Im glad they are selling instead of subbing.

Hi
I thought the whole 'NFR' thing had been outlawed, certainly in Europe?

Yup, it's a lot of money to commit! This is also an issue with Serum. I guess in both cases the RTO option does provide a sort-of-comparable "use for a while then bail at a 50% loss" option.simmo75 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 5:01 pm The synth itself looks and sounds great.

I really dislike that xfer did it retroactively, though.
