Disappointing you only have a very limited number of presets to demo. I fell foul of the 6 hour demo limit by leaving it active in a project :roll: Anything that restricts demoing whenever you want is going to hurt sales. People can't help trying new shiny shiny things.

how is it gforce's fault if you let the demo active in a project, and crossed the time limit?

demo limitations are annoying, but personally, i feel that developers have the right to push us to buy a plugin... or move on. they are running businesses, not charities.... just my thoughts!

Because it's a stupid policy [in my opinion] and easy to miss? As evidenced by all the people posting on here and Gearspace that they missed this. Anyone remember when a certain iPhone would lose reception depending on how users were holding it, and the first response from Apple was basically, "you're holding it wrong?"

If a LOT of users are having a hard time wtih something, it's not the users fault. It's a poorly designed feature.

Yes that's right ;) I'm also in the same boat and remember the first minutes with the OB-X and how I immediately thought "might be something I like, nice ambient sounds go with it and it already sounds a bit different than the other stuff"... but to think about it further I didn't even come because the demo was already expired. Now I know as much as before and have to rely on the fact that others might have tested more/better... or I just save the money and spend it on UAD or PA stuff for Black Friday :D

lots of developers put limitations into their demos, an incentive to actually buy the plugin. sorry that makes you unhappy (hey i don't like it either, but if i really like something... i buy it) :tu:

To be honest I'd rather have a time limited demo than constant noise bursts. They drive me crazy in just a few minutes and make it really hard for me to focus on the demo especially when making my own patches. Same for audio dropouts.

But yeah, 6 hours total is a pretty draconian limit. I forgot to shut my DAW down earlier so just burned a couple of hours right there. Certainly my fault for not paying attention but the 7 day limit with no hours limit would probably be a bit more appropriate especially if GForce is losing sales because of the limit.

I don't really need any more demo time as I've already formed my opinion but I'd suggest that anyone who wants to try the demo now to set aside at least a couple of hours in a row to check it out. Don't install the demo until you have the time set aside.

In the end, I think if we spend a couple of hours with a synth and are still on the fence about whether we want it or need it then we probably don't really want it or need it..... :shrug:

You're making a strawman argument. I'm not opposed to demo limitations and understand their function. I'm opposed to a 6hr total runtime limitation (not to mention Alpha patches) that's only communicated on their website and easy to miss as evidenced by all the people who missed that aspect of it.

I think that's easy enough to understand.

Trust me, I demo LOTS of plugins. I purchase LOTS of plugins. I understand.

Or if you're going to stick to a 6hr total runtime limitation, then pop up a second box when I click "Run Demo" that says very clearly in big bold letters, "Warning: there is a 6 hour total runtime on this demo." Don't count on people to read the product pages.

And you might say, "but it's in big bold text that's all caps on the product page!" And I'd say, "everything in that section is in big bold text that's all caps so the 6hour thing in no way stands out."

I wonder how those DAWs where the plugin isn't 100% unloaded when you remove it from a track (you know, the ones that all plugin authors have to put 'restart your DAW after entering the serial number' for), respond to the timer, does it still run if you try OB-X for a couple of minutes, remove it, then play with some other synth for an hour?

I like the noise-burst system, so long as it's not too intrusive. I don't like to feel like I'm under any pressure to get a feel for something.

i agree that a pop-up in the demo could remind you of the 6-hour limit. but still... if you go to download the demo, and don't read the text with it... that's a choice (& not a great one). it's right there.
