I've been putting this through its paces.
It's a strangely compelling plugin.
As wasteland said above it's great that these weird processors are being made.
Not sure what I'm doing or what it's doing but it's great fun whatever it is.

If you want to learn more about the hardware we emulated, Hainbach has a video where he talks about it and shows how he uses it:

Ok, gave Noises another try (with my own samples). For the fun, I've added Shaperbox3 to your recommended chain.
Now I'm more stoned than Burning Spear ever was.

"people stopped using them, when they switched to all digital transmissions"
Shouldn't it be the other way round?
Which makes me wonder: what were these things made for?

it's a telephone line simulator, so i assume people would input a mic, output to a recording device, then practice heavy breathing
you then listen back to make sure you sound sexual and not asthmatic.

What I can think of (while not being an expert at all): The device simulated disturbance in - at that time somewhat new - digital transmissions and their unwanted side-effects to help engineers tackle those problems.

The UI looks very similar to the original Arturia effects, like Delay Eternia.

Looks even more similar to the hardware it’s based on
Maybe Arturia were also inspired by that, although tbh I don’t see that much resemblance?

Hainbach definitely shouldn't be let near a guitar.
