No, earlier in the discussion MA confirmed that the future effects will be included in the 200 bucks on-time license...deejay2 wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 1:14 am so from my point of you you get limited version of current for 200usd with few presets and wavetables,
all effects (right now availablewill costs 49usd each so 400usd plus additional packs to purchase if needed
so are we talking about 700-800usd pricepoint here for wavetable synth?

It was an intentional strategy by MA. Everyone inherently understands that if 99% of the synth market is no-sub and you come out with a sub-only synth, you know damn well you should be disclosing this novel pricing scheme to pre-release reviewers. Especially with the sub's content delivery system being so core to the purpose and function of the synth.
MA knows it a solid synth and thought with lots of great early YouTube reviews (which they received) potential customers might be more open to accepting the sub, especially since the early reviews wouldn't be factoring the sub pricing scheme into their review. Like a sub-only synth is so commonplace that it's not worth mentioning in a product review. People who are keen to shady business practices see this as what it is - dishonesty by omission.
And that dishonesty is going to burn Minimal for a while, because the YouTubers who review these synths have a lot of pull with buyers. And every time Minimal sends them a new product for early review, they are either going to bring this issue up in the review, or they will decline to review the product entirely. MA thought they were being clever and crafty. Except not only did the sub fail, they antagonized their most valuable marketing channel in the process.
A lot of potential customers will forgive and forget about the sub. But for the reviewers who spent hours testing the software and creating video reviews, they not only lost their valuable time but also got plenty of backlash from their viewers before the whole story came out. Those guys aren't going to just forget this ever happened just because MA ditched the sub.

Imho 200USD is on the high side but kind of ok. If you see the current price of Dune or Serum, it is only 10% more. Current seems arguably more powerful (to be further tested).
For me the deciding factor will be the presets. If they play the sub and give only 80 presets, I think I'll pass. If they go to a reasonable amount of presets bundled (let's say more than 500) I will certainly go for it.
If it is in between, I'll see.

What you say is very true and makes sense but also evidently they totally miscalculated the blow. So somehow (even if I agree with you on your view of the market), they thought at one point of time that it wasn't a big deal for customers and that people will be happy/ok with that.billinder33 wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 2:17 am It was an intentional strategy by MA. For youtubers I also agree that they must have been pissed (rightfully).
But at the end the whole operation is not bad for them. It proves that they are good representation of public demand and for example for dash glitch it gaves him a lot of views.
It was the same for the spectral-gate of bitwig. Very profitable for Polarity and Dash as they kind of played a role to represent the community.

I think it was mentioned earlier but you are right, it is a weird miss.Lbdunequest wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 4:12 am Btw did i miss this but why no one mentions this synths lacks wavetable editor?![]()
Another limitation I see is the lack of modularity. I need to explore more but I am not sure you can assign effects by oscillators for example, only fillers.
Edit: I explored... No way to have effect by oscillators or by effects lane... Clearly that is a huge limitation I hope they will correct later. In terms of pure power, that brings Current one level down compared to Phase Plant, more on Pigments territory...

If you're going for an... experimental pricing model, you should probably inform the people you're outsourcing advertisement to about it.

I do miss a modulation matrix in this synth, it's only possible to see what is modulated when I hover over the mods, but then i need to switch in all views to see the targets.
