Here is another idea how the GUI could be optimized imo. Just a quick and dirty draft. It would look much better if done properly.
The idea is to reduce bright background regions but retain the OB-X look as much as possible. It also separates base and additonal modules more clearly.

I think it would be nicer to have the option to hide keyboard, and space out some of these controls. Everything in the UI seems so mashed together

Agreed. I hide keyboards whenever I can.vertibration wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 3:38 pm I think it would be nicer to have the option to hide keyboard, and space out some of these controls. Everything in the UI seems so mashed together

I'm ok with the layout. Agree the top layer background could optionally be black as per the rest of synth which would also somewhat resemble the original. The main grey needs to be quite a bit darker to match.

It looks nice. But I am not so sure I like its sound judging from the audios here. It sounds a bit harsh to me. I never had an Oberheim, but I always thought they made warm, smooth sounds...
"6 HOURS OF USE OR 7 DAYS, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER."
I think 6 hours is always shorter than 7 days
Do they mean limited to "a total of 6 hours of use within 7 days of installation?"

you could do 50 minutes a day for 7 days... (something like that; i suck at math)...Odd Fella wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:18 pm It looks nice. Imagine demoing a new plugin, but then having to immediately keep track of just how long you've actually been using it for, or even just had it open in your DAW, lest the trial expire the very same day you installed it.fisherKing wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:31 pmyou could do 50 minutes a day for 7 days... It was even more confusing before! They recently corrected the wording on their website.Odd Fella wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:18 pm "6 HOURS OF USE OR 7 DAYS, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER."

The Wayback Machine has the original wording.

imagine a plugin demo that has constraints, and the end-user has to accomodate those constraints. so hard to be a consumer, there's so much thinking involved!MrJubbly wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 5:09 pmImagine demoing a new plugin, but then having to immediately keep track of just how long you've actually been using it for, or even just had it open in your DAW, lest the trial expire the very same day you installed it.fisherKing wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:31 pmyou could do 50 minutes a day for 7 days... No need to limit yourself to 50 minutes when you can relax and enjoy using it for a full 51.4285714286 minutes for 7 days.fisherKing wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:31 pm you could do 50 minutes a day for 7 days... (something like that; i suck at math)...
(The math is 60*6/7).

thanks, i never would have figured that out (and missed out on a total of 1.4285714286 minutes each day of that week)Frantz wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 5:36 pmNo need to limit yourself to 50 minutes when you can relax and enjoy using it for a full 51.4285714286 minutes for 7 days.fisherKing wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 4:31 pm you could do 50 minutes a day for 7 days...
