Edit: there is no other 2
I think I will test it.

This is exactly the ghosted forum I mentioned earlier. The "no-news" in this particular post was gleaned elsewhere and reposted in the Vital forum.RPH wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 9:43 amA quick search on his forum got me to this post:Weasel-Boy wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 8:04 pm Hope doesn't necessarily make it true or untrue...however considering there hasn't been a lick of new or revised work on Vital in a year, (since the release of V1.5.5), I'd say that gets us pretty close to abandonware.

Is it just that the developer prefers to use Discord?Weasel-Boy wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 7:07 pmThis is exactly the ghosted forum I mentioned earlier. That post tells me Vital isn’t close to abandonment.Weasel-Boy wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 7:07 pm This is exactly the ghosted forum I mentioned earlier. The "no-news" in this particular post was gleaned elsewhere and reposted in the Vital forum.
Imo he should close the forum, a waste of time.

Yeah I think this is the real answer. The guy seems to prefer Discord; he should stick to it and remove the legacy forum so it doesn't look like he abandoned the product (which he clearly hasn't, assuming he's not lying on Discord.)RPH wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 8:08 pmThat post tells me Vital isn’t close to abandonment.Weasel-Boy wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 7:07 pm This is exactly the ghosted forum I mentioned earlier. The alternative would be that people don't get their panties in a bunch when there's no posts from the developer for some time.

Some people are busy and actually do things besides post about what they're doing. We didn't all grow up with the internet, you know.

Matt has posted on Discord "recently" but has ghosted his own company forum that he himself set up to interact with his paying customers.osiris wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 8:45 pm Some people are busy and actually do things besides post about what they're doing. So he's got time, he's just not spending it in the manner a good developer would and by good I mean one that cares about his customers and his business. That's so painfully obvious I don't why it has to be pointed out.
I'll submit as evidence this thread from August which I did not start: "Matt please let us know what's going on with Vital". Not a single response from Matt while he has been seen posting on Discord. I'll invite you to read the last post (at the time of this post)
The thread I did start "Matt are you OK?" was because I was genuinely concerned about Matt as a person, not about Vital. I was worried he might be ill or having troubles as he at that time didn't seem like the kind of guy who would just ghost his own forums. We have now learned he is that kind of guy and I have lost the respect I had for him.

Matt was actually very engaged with the user base on his company forum in the beginning but since last year he's either lost interest in his business or due to so many people using the nearly un-crippled free version (which was a huge mistake to release) it's no longer worth his effort.
But in the end it would take less than two minutes to post on his company forums "Still working on Vital, I see the bug reports and they are being addressed". If you don't have two minutes for your customers then simply close up shop and go out of business. Stop selling product to people you can't or won't support.
No one is asking for an updated Vital every week. No one is asking him to spend hours a day engaging at his company forums, just some engagement to let people know Vital is not vaporware, which is not too much to ask of any developer.
Anyone defending his actions or lack thereof at this point either can't grasp simple concepts of business, is just being contrarian, or just trolling.
So I've said all I will in this thread. I've explained the situation in a manner that should be easy for anyone to grasp. I simply can't waste time with trolls any longer.

Personally, I hate Discord (so far---I haven't used it much... because I hate it). I'd find having to use it very annoying. But his decision to use the official company Discord instead of the official company forum doesn't seem like that big a deal, especially for a small developer (does he even have any employees?...).

I like Discord but it's hard to find groups for me. At least the Contrarian chatbots haven't invaded.
