When I go down to where the transport buttons are and change the tempo from say, 100 to 120,the ruler/bar beat thing at the top also changes. It goes closer together or farther apart depending on the tempo change. Can I just change the tempo without anything else being triggered to respond to it? I just noticed it recently so I'm guessing I clicked a wrong box somewhere.
I'd appreciate some help.

Each track has a Tempo Mode setting in the track inspector.
Set all of your tracks to Don’t Follow, then change the tempo.
- Don’t Follow Events on this Track are independent of the Song tempo. They are never moved or stretched automatically.
- Follow The start positions of Events on this Track are tied to the musical grid. Thus, the Events move when the Song tempo changes but they are not stretched
- Timestretch Event start positions follow the Song tempo, as in Follow mode. In addition, the Events are stretched to fit the Song tempo.
Set all of your tracks to Don’t Follow, then change the tempo.
