EDIT - on a fourth restart of the Product Portal it worked.
Same problem...I just moved the ufs file from the USBsoundbanks directory to a save place and let Portal scan the current installation and presto, it installed the new factory presests.
The factory presets are completely overhauled with all GUI's

You were testing it in the middle of the switch :)

I have version 2, but if they still use this intrusive copy protection I won't upgrade. They still use ilok, don't they?

Well now. First of all, it's a free update which is lovely. The new presets look pretty. I may try to get my head around the sequencers and midi out, that could be fun.

But to anyone who has never warmed to Falcon like me (I got the silly cheap crossgrade from the AAX version), v3 sadly changes nothing. It's first and foremost the sound of the presets - cold, sterile and there's a mid-90s feeling about it all that matches the unchanged ultra-basic browser. The new patches all feel like old workstation synth sounds, which is so odd given Falcon's extensive sampling and synthesis abilities. Nothing about it makes me want to dive in and learn, sorry to say.

I know this sounds terribly entitled and ungrateful. I can see all this amazing potential in Falcon, but it never gets off the starting blocks for me.

Fear not, the quality of UVI products is not to proven anymore. They may have had a temporary problem due to the switch but Falcon and other UVI products are generally rock solid.

Don't use Portal. Go to the website at https://www.uvi.net/my-products and download it from there. Much faster speeds.

I sort of agree with most of what you say, however what I would like to know is how did you find the new presets quickly.

It actually took 4 goes to get them, but as I understand I was too darned quick and they hadn't switched over to the new files yet (even though the Portal said it was v3). Fair enough.

No complaints on the download speeds incidentally via the Portal, very snappy.

As to the presets - I just spent 10 minutes going through some of the new stuff. The very first strings preset set the tone - harsh, brittle, took my head off. A familiar falcon feeling. The word "strings" immediately brings lush romantic tones to mind, but no these are the brutal hard "tresspassers will be tied up with piano-wire" kind. I roamed at will in several sections, and while some presets would be fine used in context there was nothing that really stood out. I actively hunted for anything acoustic, but alas. Even sections like Winds sound like a D-50. And with no tags of any kind to find anything beyond fumbling through every patch in a category, motivation is low to continue much further.

I dunno. Despite its dizzying architecture and feature set, Falcon sounds more like an old digital synth than a fully-featured sampler with a synth engine. I just don't get it I guess. (I have similar antipathy towards Massive X, I rarely hear a preset I like there either, but that at least sounds newer - YMMV of course).

I think your comment is very fine as it is a question of tastes. Actually, though I do love Falcon, contrary to you, I can understand where you are coming from.

If you take Phase Plant, Avenger, DS Thorn, Serum or the new kid Current, they indeed somehow sound much "modern" to my ears.... But it is not at all a question of quality. It is a question of positioning.
Falcon market position is: "I am a freaking powerhouse, I can do everything and I can do everything better than the others". As a result, if you listen to Falcon presets you get very different presets, touching all the genre, from modern to old. Somehow that makes browsing the presets a bit less appealing because there is no unity (for the factory presets). It is going everywhere. But in fact when you really listen to the presets. They are all really really good sounding in my opinion.
And if we are talking about the presets banks you can purchase, that are specific to a genre. To me they are really excellent. The Quadra series for example is extremely good I think.
And tbh, I am very impressed with the new presets I am listening to now.

Now the portal seems to work very well. I got very high speed and the presets immediately available.

Someone was saying a few posts ago that their speeds were slow using Portal. Sorry, forgot to quote them when I suggested to try the website download.

they have a offer to buy 2 expansions and pay only one. Cart should be updated automaticly, but it's not working.

also it would be cool if Falcon 3 gets Relayer and Plate Reverb added.....
