Groove Shaper released. $29 intro and around $24 at JRR Shop with "group". Not tried it yet, but looks a bit like a cut down version of Rhythmizer. It has VST hosting. 15 day trial.

Also- As mentioned earlier, Falcon 3 is now released. Free update with MIDI out.

I just posted up some initial findings re the new Falcon 3 MIDI out, it's very easy to get going and seems pretty effective. I managed to stumble about in the dark and still get individual MIDI channel output from discrete instruments in Quadra and Percussion Factory.

I don't suppose the new Falcon 3 midi out include a midifx AU plugin for Logic? I have tools to load a VST plugin within Logic and handle the midi out that way, but it's obviously more convenient if a midifx AU plugin happens to be available, and since there's no demo, thought I would see if anyone knows one way or the other. Thanks for any insight anyone can offer!

I don’t believe there are any AU plugins that can handle MIDI out, not just Falcon but I thought it was a limitation inherent in the format. Stand to be corrected of course.

Midifx AU plugins are specifically designed to handle midi out; indeed, I have many of them (including from Audiomodern, Feel Your Sound, Sugar Bytes, W.A. Production, and Xfer Sound, among several others). Even though they're AUs, they're not normal instrument plugins, and go in a separate part of the channel strip (the midifx part rather than instrument part). But they definitely exist!

Ah ok, live and learn. I’m not a mac user but I guess the issue must be plugin makers not wanting to have to effectively build two different AUs to fit instrument or midifx situations though in a lot of cases they only have to set a multi platform build up once then reuse it, especially if it’s built on a standard template library like Juce.

Heads-up that feelyoursound's MelodicFlow 2 scaler/midi note processor has a 22% introductory discount offer (code: melodic22) that is coming to a close in the next 24 hours: https://feelyoursound.com/melodicflow/

This might be silly but are there tools that can create chords similar to this without me playing/editing by hand?
Phrasebox? EzKeys?

Captain Chords is also really good now. You can choose a heap of progressions, paste in MIDI from elsewhere, impose rhythms on whichever parts you want and have separate tabs where you can create verses, choruses, bridges and drops. I like it a lot as a scratchpad in concert with Scalar for getting progressions worked out and of course you do get the option to have it also suggest basslines, melodies etc that can be a decent starting point.

Phrasebox is an effect, you must first have midi notes so it can process. Scaler can do it too without playing. EzKeys can but you probably want to edit a little bit (chord type etc).
There is also Sundog by FeelYourSound although it's a standalone app.
WA Production- InstaComposer 2 can generate a lot with a single click - maybe that's the one that needs least effort

Thanks guys. I already have Scaler and Captain Plugins. I was looking for something to just break up block chords and make them into broken chords like the image. I guess it's just easier to edit a progression by hand.

You could get the same effect in Captain Chords by copying straight legato chords from one set of bars into another area, impose a rhythm on them and just copy out the parts of both sets of chords you want to use. I personally prefer it to need some human decisions at some stage.JiggSaw wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:49 pm Thanks guys. I already have Scaler and Captain Plugins.
