The really bad news is that we all know who that monopolistic "paid streaming service" is...

CDs had a good run, and maybe grunge was good for the music business after all.

I still think it's weird that vinyl came back. It's awkward, not very portable, easily damaged... I guess it's a triumph of the "real analog warmth" marketing angle plus hipsters.

album art, that's where vinyl shines for me.
although, i buy little vinyl these days, mostly cds.
i don't use streaming aside from odd bits on bandcamp or soundcloud.

I did streaming for a while with Google Play Music, but decided I didn't like it as albums I had in my "collection" would spontaneously disappear. Also I earned about $14 in streaming income over two years if I remember right, for which I paid $40 to DistroKid and also had to fill out more complicated tax forms. So I'm done with that. :P

When I remember how much storage phones have and that I could (semi-)automatically sync a sizeable MP3 collection between my home PC, phone, and work PC, I went back to that. I buy the occasional CD if it's older music I want to add to my collection (especially stuff I used to own on cassette or vinyl) or it's otherwise just not available. I caught up on some gaps in my Kraftwerk, Isao Tomita and Tangerine Dream collection that way.

Glad to see vinyl growing. I mix on my decks nearly every day! '90s hardcore, jungle, and trance. :)

I still buy CDs. No LPs, though. Yep, album covers is a lost art form. Some of the best album covers look lame on a CD insert cover.
Used to ritually roll my spliffs on the cover of 'Wish You Were Here.'

$0 revenue from live shows, sounds about right :hihi:

In the 1970s (?) there was a class action lawsuit that alleged vinyl was price fixed by the labels and they were charging too much. There was a settlement but I don't remember getting much. It was like a couple of $$. Records cost $7 to $9.00 back the which is equal to $30.00 now. Imports - forgidabouit.
