Congratulations for your brave hard and good work!
I wonder if you plan to add EXS format to the conversion list?

I think there are a lot of people ( like me) that uses Mainstage to sample so we got a lot of sounds that could be nice to convert to other formats..

Best regards

Xp98 :D
I have no plans for it but just out of curiosity, is there a documentation of the format available?

Post

I really dont know…
Anyone here can help?

Best regards Jürgen!

Hi Jurgen, thank you for the awesome utility!
I do have a question about which variables are carried over from a Kontakt .nki into a soundfont .sfz. I have a kontakt library where each sample has a small tuning offset (from 10 to 40 cents) shown for example as Tune: 0.24st in the mapping editor.

However, it appears that these tuning offsets are not being carried over into the .sfz file. If I open the output file in an editor and look at the data I see something like;
<region>
sample=Vox /V AH F#4F.wav
pitch_keycenter=66
lokey=65 hikey=66
offset=0 end=225603
tune=0
ampeg_attack=0.087 ampeg_hold=0.0 ampeg_decay=0.087 ampeg_release=1.46 ampeg_sustain=100.0
bend_up=200
bend_down=200
loop_mode=loop_continuous loop_start=81312 loop_end=225537
where I would expect the tune variable to be 24. In fact, if I manually change this value and the reload the sfz in Bitwig - the correct transposition value in cents is shown. It seems like there is something in the conversion process that loses these values? Any ideas?

EDIT: I was just rereading the manual - does this have anything to do with the use of the listed Kontakt 1 spec and its lack of metadata?

Especially, Kontakt 1 I have not much test files. Please send me an example file.

Is it possible to create something like that for ReFx Nexus? I'd like to use my sounds outside their vst

Would be lovely if you could consider that when you will have the time.

Thanks

hi. i did search this thread for this question but didn't find reference to it.
i wonder if it's possible to convert from TAL Sampler format?
perhaps is a closed format? i have no idea.
(1) is it technically possible?
(2) would it be something you would consider doing, if so?
thanks!

I imagine that TAL would be willing to share the information. He would gain a lot from it, after all.

Great idea!

Does someone know him personally? Would need a license and the format documentation.

He’s very approachable through his email channels. I’ve had several conversations with him, including what SFZ opcodes are supported by TAL-Sampker. I bet he’d be helpful if you email him. 🙂

ConvertWithMoss 7.2.1 is online with some important fixes!
  • DecentSampler - Writing
    • Fixed: Tuning was not set correctly
  • Kontakt - Reading
    • New: Support for Kontakt 7.6.
    • Fixed: Kontakt 5-7: Sample zones from monolith files did miss all settings.
    • Fixed: Kontakt 5-7: Pitch was not handled correctly.
Enjoy!

+1
As I commented above, AFAIK there is no public documentation of that format. If there is, please let me know.
IIRC, WIlliam posted a download link to the file format specs on here at one point. Sadly I never had a need for it, and didn't download it.

You could always try asking him, if you are interested.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Does anyone know of a converter sfz -> ableton sampler?

Thanks!
