This worked a treat when initializing/configuring a 2TB secondary drive (for games/back-up) and cloning my sons smallish OS drive to a 1TB drive before installing them, when upgrading his Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop. Both new drives are Samsung, and I've used their migration software without any issues well over a dozen times in the past several years.

Nice. I have my old 1TB drive in an external enclosure now for backups running off USB 3.2, it saves so much time.

Most of my drives are also Samsung, not let me down so far.

There are also PCIe cards that can host up to 4 M.2 SSDs with a cooling fan... the IT guy at work is thinking about setting up one of the servers that way in a RAID configuration.

Yeah, PCI-e 4 would easily handle that throughput, would get v hot obviously.
I don’t know if anyone’s done long term analysis on m2 lifetimes.

Ordered a THIRD computer desk, this time for a video/visualization computer. Deity help me... :help:

Planning on upgrading the audio machine to a Ryzen 9 system with 32gb of RAM. A 512GB drive is plenty since I don't have 450GB of NI sample libraries installed...!

Still in search of a granular synth VSTi that I like. Why is that so hard? Right now I'm just shoving synth output through EFX Fragments, but it's not the same (sounds wicked, though)! :troll:

A case of ramen noodles is on the way.. that will help me save faster for more power.

MOREEEEE POWWWWWWERRRRRRR!! :wheee: :nutter: :-o :-o :-o

There's a thread over on MW about "modules you wouldn't buy" and I mentioned noise generators, since I use the DAW too and I've got zillions of ways to produce either white noise or something more flavorful.

Which got me thinking -- how many of my actual Eurorack modules can be convinced to create more-or-less-white-noise without any extra help? So far it's 10 out of 16 in the top two rows. Often the trick is just extreme FM.

I rather like my Befaco Noise Plethora and it’s kind of superfluous as I have VCV and there’s a perfectly good version in there, but I just like having all its different flavours of noise to tap into in the rack.

I thought I was entering a new period where I didn’t have GAS for any modules, but then I made the mistake of watching a video that shows the different harmony and arp options in Bard Quartet. I may try and sell my WMD Arpitecht to help fund the purchase.

Noise Plethora is pretty great -- more than just a simple noise generator, it kind of reminds me of the Plutonium Hyper Fist that I was thinking about for a while. I could see owning one myself instead of my Interstellar Radio.

For that matter, I could see a small case just for crazy noise drone stuff. Those three modules, a Zorlon Cannon, a Synthtech E950, a Tabor, a Shard... and a couple of joystick-based mixers. :D

Finally removed the MPD218.. it will go to a new home soon.

Every time I see a new analog synth, I get excited.. then check it out.. then discover it jhust doen't fit with my music, or sounds exactly like something I can already do with a VST. Bloody depressing!

Next month, will get DAWSOME Abyss as it has some excellent dark patches. You can never have too much darkness!! :hihi: :hihi:

Installed the BoredBrain Optx in my drum rack. It's really cool having that many extra inputs and I've also been using the extra outputs for LFOs etc and it's all working very nicely in Bitwig. Got a Qu Bit Surface in that rack that I've mainly used for bass sounds but forgot you can make it sound extremely pretty too. Getting some lovely results just from random quantized notes from Pam's Pro.

Ive sorta thought about that as well, though the potential list basically wound up as 'one of every Djupviks Elektronik module'. Im nearly at the point of 'a small case just for video stuff' too. sigh.

Added a 1TB USB stick to the studio computer to hold live media.

Copied 580GB from the slow rotating-disc drive to the USB stick.

IT TOOK 4 HOURS. :-o  :-o  :tantrum:

Loops load WAY faster now. Also, put all m public domain videos on the drive, now DaVinci runs quite fast. :wheee: :hyper: :tu:

Drank a LOT of coffee waiting, though, so I watched Vital tutorials and DasVinci tutorials.

My brain hurts!  :help:

Loads of fun running the cv and gate of a bunch of monosynths from the Intellijel Shifty.
It's taking everything from a sequence full of pseudo-randomness.
Rample providing drums and percussion plus a shaker loop.

Poking about with things in VCV Rack, mainly for MIDI output. Now I'm getting decent clock sync in and out of the DAW it's become a better environment for monkeying about with their sequencers and other note generating things.

This one I worked on tonight uses a sequential clock to randomise one of four different sequencers that are each looking after their own voice (though I've done one which instead outputs on MIDI channels 1 thru 4 so I can use it elsewhere too).
