ProTools Beat Detective: Any other DAW have a similar feature?

Logic's Flex Time is not the answer. ;-)

Christ almighty are you kidding me? Beat detective, Flex time......same difference. Whatever happened to getting that human feel? This spot on the grid robotic feel is pure barf.
Perfection is the enemy of damn good.

I'm tempted to change the timeline to time instead of beats and freestyle it. It's so hard to be imperfect when perfect is a click away. Would The Beatles have quantized Ringo? Are they quantizing him for the final Beatles track? I feel you Voodoo. I'm just not sure I can go back and/or resist spot on.

You're A/B ing yourself with what is out there right now (trendy). I get it. It pays the bills. I'ts just that people are so damn programmable they'll eat up "robot" in EVERYTHING. It's not just waiting in lines at a grocery store, they'll quantize like soldiers on a marching field. It's f**king depressing and disgusting.
It's cool to sequence and arp. But to take a vocal run and "Spot On" it.....that's mind control in an ugly way.
Consider that the instrumentation can be a bit spot on, but loosen up what should be humainzed. That's not advice of course, you do you. I get frustrated so don't mind me haha.

Voodoo, I have preached the same free yourself and be creative sermon. I just told a graphic design artist that perfect is boring; yet, here I am! I truly wish I could go back to tape, but I would need to buy some old crap, restore, and upkeep. So, here I am with the rest of you . . . locked into a DAW. It's difficult to self impose limitations. I'm not a follow the trend person. I don't follow others. I'm at war with myself and my virtual gear. A few months ago, I was close to selling off my Mac, interface, and plugins, but the options are depressing. Going to a Tascam digital 16 track is not the answer. I'm open to suggestions . . . .

Until then, Any other DAW(s) have a Beat Detective type feature besides Logic?

Well of course Ableton Live.

Jokes aside tommyzai, I went through this and nothing beats Beat Detective. Not Ableton, not Logic, not Cubase. For what it is for, it is the best.

What’s your problem with Pro Tools?

To free yourself? Easy!!!

Set BPM = 60, then each vertical bar is a second. Ignore them totally, snap to grid: off!

Now you have digital "tape".
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
